Pamela Robison's Far Away Weddings Inc., the Dallas based destination wedding planner we recommended in Chapter 6, has closed her business. Her 800# is no longer active. But not to worry. One bride (a native of Jamaica) called us to suggest Elegant Resorts of Jamaica as a wonderful choice for weddings. You can choose from five old fashioned colonial hotels for your wedding.
1. There is a new book available called Here Comes the Guide--Hawaii, by Lynn Broadwell. The book gives the low-down to getting married in the 50th state. Call 415-494-8719 to order.
2. Debbie Cravatta of Paradise Weddings (808-883-9067) coordinates weddings on the big island of Hawaii. She told us nuptials in Hawaii have some unusual quirks. For example, she mentioned that hotels usually have contracts with DJs and photographers that have exclusives to do weddings at their facilities. Also she said videographers don't offer "unedited" packages for wedding videos.
Shelly Hammill wrote to us to tell us about her wedding consulting business in Bermuda, Bermuda Wedding Associates. She has brochures available about her services and is a member of the Association of Bridal Consultants as well as Professional Bridal Consultant.
