    Default Questions on nebulizer treatments?

My DS was just prescribed albuterol and budesonide for a severe cough. This is new to us. I am just wondering if there is anything specefic I need to know or any tips you experienced moms have. It seems easy and does not bother DS. Can he take tylenol if needed for a fever?

    TIA

Yup, definitely can take Tylenol (or Advil/motrin) with nebs. For older children, its no biggie to administer. Just put on their fav TV show or movie. Usually they figure out pretty quickly that the medicine helps.

Thanks! I don't think the doctor told me how long to do the treatment. Am I supposed to wait until all of the liquid is gone?

Exactly right. It's a good ten minutes, I would say.

Our protocol was until the liquid is gone or 10 min, whichever came first. It depends on your nebulizer somewhat.

Thanks so much! I wasn't expecting this so really was not prepared with questions. I am shocked at shopping bag I came home from CVS with, but 3 vials a day x 2 meds adds up quick. Hope he feels better soon.

Hope he's better soon. We always noticed a huge difference in a day or less.

Not sure about your meds but we do pulmicort and xopenex and we were told to rinse her mouth/lips after. we swish and spit water.

Yes, swish mouth out after the treatment. The meds can cause thrush if left sitting in the mouth.

If your child seems jittery after the treatment, you can request Xoponex. It is known for causing fewer jitters than Albuterol.

Budesonide is the generic form of Pulmicort.

    Good luck!
