The inability to contact the US company in any way frightens and angers me.

Each parent will do what s/he feels is right. For us, the "disappearance" of the company, the delisting by JPMA, and the heartbreaking posts about the tragedies were more than enough to convince DH and me to pack the bed away. There are just too many questions and fears, for us. Of course I respect that others will make different choices. My goal in starting this thread was to acquire and share information and thoughts, never to tell anyone what to do.

We are still waiting for a response from the CPSC to our FOIA request.

Reading the posts from the father whose baby died has affected my feelings on this issue. Last night I read some new things here:

here:

here:

Another post by a concerned parent:
http://onelittlewordsheknew.blogspot...ck-recall.html

I can't think about the Amby anymore without thinking of the images described on two of these forums of the father finding the baby who died.

The fact that the company cannot be reached means they have abandoned customers who put their trust in the product, in my opinion. I want and feel that all consumers deserve answers to our questions.

I am praying for and thinking of the families who are mourning profound loss.

Default Amby announcement

According to a contact at the USCPSC in Bethesda, we should be hearing news of a recall or warnings by 12/08/09.

I for one applaud you and am grateful for this thread. DD1 had reflux and I seriously considered the Amby but the cost kept me from it. We just couldn't spend the $$$ at the time. Now expecting DD2 and concerned that she may also have reflux, I'd kept the Amby in the back of my head as an option. But no longer. IMO it just isn't worth the risk when there are other *safer* options out there options you helped me find. So thank you.

Default Amby US Site back up

I have just seen that the site is back up. They are still not shipping, but all contact details are given with a request to call them with any set-up difficulties or queries, and several clear statements about setting the hammock up safely.

Of course, until the CPSC statement is issued we still don't have clarity on their findings but it does look as though the site was closed only for the duration of the investigation.

Interesting that the website still says JPMA certified but the company is not listed on JPMA's website that I could find.

I know many of us will be watching with great interest to see what happens.

Thanks for the information, everyone.

Just went to www.ambybaby.com and they have issued a recall on all Amby beds sold since 2003 and there is a link to the CPSC report.

I am relieved that Amby Baby USA has taken this huge step.

I am very skeptical about their promised "repair kit." I think it will be a long time before this is available.

I am also very skeptical about the repair kit because Health Canada is advising people to get rid of the beds and they are not offering any kind of repair kit to people who purchased in Canada. I doubt I will ever feel safe using mine again. I am very curious as to what the repair kit will contain.
