Default FA parents - help me out!

Ds had a probable peanut allergy reaction lately. We go to the allergist tomorrow. (see bp for detailed thread...I will post link later)

What questions do I need to ask?

I want to make sure I have a complete list.

I know the obvious thing is determining if the hives, lip swelling, & severe runny nose were an actual allergy & to what. Pea ut exposure was the obvious new exposure & symptoms occurred within minutes of exposure.

I also need to know what the emergency treatment needed for any other accidental exposures (& get treatment plan in writing for school& grandmother)

what did you ask/ wish you had asked...

    Thanks!

I'd ask about likelihood of outgrowing the allergy and whether there are other foods you should now be extra careful about.

I'm sorry! I didn't see your other thread

    check out:

    and

    http://www.kidswithfoodallergies.org...k_an_allergist

www.kidswithfoodallergies.org (KFA) is an excellent resource + great support, recipe database etc

dr should take all 3 into account for an actual diagnosis: skin test (spt), blood test (cap-rast) and child's history

if you think it was a product that was safe (per label) you can have it tested. Don't throw it away. Put in ziplock in fridge. KFA has info on how to get it tested

I have a lot of threads in the feeding section. But look here first: http://www.kidswithfoodallergies.org...p?topic=basics

    Good luck!!

We already have a milk protein allergy...which my mom doesn't take super serious. Fortunately his reaction isn't anyphalactic. I plan on printing this booklet out, as well as the hidden allergen cards to give to her. I'm also hoping my peds allergist has info I can give her/school too. He goes to a completely nut free pre-school and they take his food allergies very seriously
