Claritin didn't work for either of my kids alone, so we tried Zyrtec and also no dice. So now both are on singulair for seasonal allergies. DS needed more so he is also on claritin in the mornings (singulair before bed). This combo is working well for him. For DD she has an inhaler along with the singulair for coughing. We only use the inhaler as needed, though she hasn't been formally diagnosed as asthmatic, she just has an asthmatic cough but no breathing issues.

This is the first year we've dealt with seasonal allergies with Reeve. He was taking Benadryl, but he was exhausted all day long. His pediatrician recommended a daily dose of Claritin, but it couldn't get him through the day without a "Benadryl boost". His allergist has prescribed Xyzal. It's been the only one that has helped. We can't even test to find out exactly what he's allergic to until he's off the meds for 5 days - who knows when that will be!
