I'm getting married in October 2010 in western MA and I'm currently looking for a caterer. The venue where we're having the wedding has a preferred list so we'll choose from there. Since I'm new to this whole having to hire caterers thing, I'm wondering what I can expect to pay?
I gave someone a ballpark figure and even though I know they're the priciest on our list, she let me know that this was really low-balling it and that I should talk to my fiance about it and maybe come to the restaurant and meet with them to discuss cost in detail.
We're looking to do a Sunday brunch for around 115. I thought it would be ideal to pay under $25 a person (since it is a brunch), but I'm not sure what all that includes. The one woman I've spoken with so far has told me that the rental of the china, flatware, glassware and linens will cost me upwards of $2000. Is this about right? Will we be paying around $5000-6000 for catering?? Help!

Hi,

I'm originally from Western Mass and having my wedding at Mechanic's Hall in June 2010. Ours is a night wedding with 200 people so its obviously going to be more pricey. At first we were getting quotes for 14,500! Finally we found Creedon & Co, a family run business that has been around for almost 25 years. They were awesome to talk with a quoted us at $8000. I'm sure for a brunch it would be way less! Check them out.

$5000- $6000 for catering is good and that too for 115 members. I think you will give with alcohol, So it may cross your budget. Just make a rough quote and see whether it is in your budget. People who needs catering services can post their request on Mineeds.com.
