I'm looking for one that shoot digital and provides digital negatives of all photos for under $1K. Would love a recommendation! Thanks:0:

If you're looking for a photographer to take shots of your entire wedding (getting ready, ceremony, and reception), I haven't found anyone for less than $1500 yet, but these are a few ways to get closer to spending $1000 like you wanted to :)

1. As the Fields' suggest, hire the photographer for the CEREMONY and PORTRAIT pictures only (not the reception). This ranges from $400-600 and you can get referrals from http://www.abeautifulwedding.us - that is the website of the officiant that we're planning on using and she notes on her website that she'll e-mail you those referrals once you have a date, time, and location for your wedding. I also googled "cheap san diego wedding photography" and some "ceremony only" packages popped up...for about $400! I would prefer going through my officiant's website just because she comes so highly recommended that her referrals are probably good too. We're asking a few friends to make sure they photo the key reception shots (important dances, cake cutting) and asking everyone else to e-mail us their pictures of each other at their tables.
2. Many photographers can adjust your price based on the number of hours they cover your wedding. So if you don't need them for 5+ hours, even if you want them to shoot some of the reception, you can probably get a discount ($1500+ seems to be the cheaper going rate for 5+ hours, so it could go down from there). Maybe they'll give you 3 hours for $1000?
3. Many photographers will give you a discount (so far, the most I've seen was $200) if you have an off-season or Friday/Sunday wedding - I suppose it's even cheaper if you have it Monday through Thursday.

I wish I had found a photographer to shoot the whole thing for $1000, but I haven't...this is the best I could come up with for ya!

Hey I just found a photographer for $1000 for the whole ceremony AND reception! I cut and pasted from their website (http://www.aderkahn.com/1000weddingphotography.htm). I found them on a list that my DJ recommended today.

"Silver Package- $1000

6 Hours of wedding day coverage
All of your wedding day images displayed on your own personal, password protected Preview Gallery web site, for your friends and relatives to visit. They can order their own pictures and not obligate you to pay for them.
150 Color, Paper Proofs of your choice.
All of your original High Resolution Images on a CD/DVD for you to use to create your own Wedding Album.
Design Your Own Wedding Album software to create your own custom, personalized wedding album.

6 hour coverage usually begins at the church. We will arrive 1/2 prior to the ceremony. We photograph your arrival, the ceremony, and family groups. We then photograph the Bride and Groom at the church, or travel to a close by scenic location for formal portraits of the Bridal Party and Bride and Groom."

Not bad, huh?

Unfortunately the inexpensive photographer has not yet renewed his website. This probably doesn't bode well for working with him.

I highly doubt that you will find an experienced photographer in San Diego for less than $1000 for a Saturday wedding. I got married 3 1/2 years ago and paid our photographer over $1200 for 7 hours of coverage- they were very new to the business and building their portfolio, but we lucked out and they delivered some fabulous photos of our day. They now are in the $2500 and up range, but definitely worth every penny.

Anyway, you might want to check craigslist to see if anyone is offering packages for wedding photography. Good luck!

I am the ADER from Ader/Kahn Photography. That was a joint venture between another photographer and I. We have since went back to our own websites and businesses.

www.maxader.com <- Photojournalism centered
www.bobkahn.com <- Portraiture centered.

I have been in business 6 years and Bob has over 30 years of experience. There are photographers out there that are quality of reasonable prices.
