bridal gown shopping

I am a bride-to-be and I am trying to narrow down where to shop for my dress. I have read some of the previous postings and I do not want any place like Hannelore's in Old Town. I want to spend between $500-$1000 on my dress, so I want a place that has a good selection of price ranges and quality. I was thinking about going to Ellie's in Old Town and Lady Hamilton in Arlington. Does anyone have any other suggestions, maybe some salons in DC? Thanks.

I've heard pretty good things about Rosalin's in Falls Church, and Bridal Visions (also in Falls Church?).

I posted a review of Ellie's in this forum. Basic message was that it was a good place -- nice selection, reasonably priced (most of the gowns I tried on fell in your price range), and helpful staff. One of my good friends purchased her gown through them for her Nov. 2004 wedding and had a good experience with Marie, the salesperson who was helping her. My friend said she was a little flighty at times, but was responsive and helpful.
