Northern Maine

I will be getting married in the Skowhegan area (northern Maine) in the spring/summer of 2008 and was wondering if anybody knows anything about the area. I live in Montana and while my fiance is from there he never thought about a wedding there and is pretty useless. Thanks!!!

Hi! My fiancee's family is from Anson, Maine - not too far from Skowhegan. There wasn't really anyplace near there to get married and by the time we rented everything it would have made getting married at their home pretty expensive. We opted for doing it at the Loon Lodge on Rangeley Lake. It's really pretty and reasonably priced. It's this October, so if you're interested, I'll keep you posted and let you know how things went!
You might also check around in Farmington. There is a Univ of Maine campus there and they have some options.

Hello, Thank you very much! Please do keep me posted. My fiancee's mother is looking for places and last I heard she had started looking at beach area which is really far from their home and would be probably more trouble than it's worth. I will see where she's at and mention your suggestions.
