I'm looking for a good cake (tasty is as important as looks!) that I can get to my location in Downtown LA...any suggestions? hoping for the 2-3 dollar range...no fondant...nothing fancy just a buttercream frosting (with real butter!) and flowers (with real flowers!)

Have you tried Porto's in Glendale, there cakes are yummy and they do a great job.

Hope that this helps.

They are also online if you want to check them out.

I know you asked for LA but there is a WONDERFUL place called Heavenly Cakes in Oxnard CA. Its between Santa Barbara and LA. I'm planning a wedding for about 150-175 people and they quoted me $325 and they make GREAT cakes. My family and I have been getting cakes made there for years! here is thier info...
