I just wanted everyone to know about this tiny shop in Torrance.

http://www.houseofbridesandtuxedo.verizonsupersite.com/

It's not like your typical bridal shop since you basically have to look through the racks and help yourself try on dresses, but it's great if you've already been to a couple of shops and know what you want. It's a bit unorganized and not as nice as the other shops, but I was able to score a GREAT deal on the 2006 San Patrick gown I've been looking high and low for. I've been to 7 shops (all over SoCal and in Las Vegas) and this was the only shop that had it. They were having a great sale and gave me the best in-store price I'd seen on these dresses but I bargained and got an even better price when I brought in a quote I had gotten online. House of Brides is worth checking out if you know what you're looking for, you don't need any of the bridal shop pampering, and you don't mind doing the legwork yourself. Good Luck!

Just wanted to update everyone on my experience with House of Brides. I ordered my Pronovias/San Patrick dress back in mid-November. I got a call last week from Maggie the owner and picked up my dress that day. It took exactly four months, as she promised. I'm scheduling my appointment for alterations in June (a month before the wedding) and so I think everything should be fine. Still liking this shop!!!

I live in Torrance, so I recently checked out the website for this shop, and wow, disappointing...not even a designer listing. The site consisted of 2 pages: 1 page with location and contact info, and the other page with a pic of one bride, and something like "we specialize in custom gowns" and a plain list of "bridal, tuxedos, prom, quinceanera, blah blah blah..."
So, not everyone has great web designing skills. I called them anyway and asked what designers they carry...she named about 8 designers, laughed and said "there's too many" followed by the awkward silence of the year...
I hope they don't work on commision there, because she didn't ask if I was looking for a particular designer or style, or ask if I wanted an appointment. She just said, "There's too many." I swear I'm not a bridezilla, but 2 minutes of her time and a little info would've been nice.
