Dear all,

I need some help here.

DS is going to be 6-month and we started introducing him rice cereal and solid food three weeks ago. He loves the solid food, so far from our observation. However, he used to drink 7 oz each time/ 5 times a day before, but now he is only drinking 6 oz, and sometimes he takes 2-3 oz and refused to take the rest (I used the reaminning milk in the bottle and mixed it with cereal), I am worried that he will gradually lose interest in milk before 1-year old. Is it normal? What can I do to help him take more milk?

P.S. He is taking solid food with milk 3 times a day (breakfast/lunch/dinner, with 4 hrs in between) and one bottle of milk before sleep time at night.

Worried mom,

Is this breastmilk? Are you giving him the milk before you offer food? The milk is much more important than the solids at his age so if offering it first doesn't make him drink more then I would cut back on the solids. My DD wasn't doing 3 meals a day until she was 10 months old, at least. At 6 months, she was only getting some cereal and/or fruit once a day.

Just a few thoughts.

ITA, my 8 month old is eating 2 "meals" per day of solids. He didn't move up to 2 meals until last month! He takes about 30 oz of breastmilk/formula per day.

Yes, I am giving him breastmilk exclusively. And I always offer him milk first. For some reasons, he seems to know that there are solid food followed and refuse to take the whole bottle. Maybe as you said, I should cut back some solid food. thanks.
