New to Soft Water, should I cut back or add detergent?

Having problems with Ammonia smell. Maybe I should strip diapers and switch to something other than Sportwash too, but my son's nightime diapers are the worst. We use FB with microfiber inserts. I feel so sorry for DS who has to smell it. Soooo strip and switch or cut back/add detergent? Any ideas?

Usually with soft water you need less detergent. We had a water softener put in about a year or so ago and I had to re-tune my washing routine. We now do a cold wash with two squirts (probably a Tablespoon) of Sam's Club detergent in our HE washer along with 1/3 cup washing soda. Then a hot wash with 1-2 squirts detergent and vinegar in the rinse. For regular clothes I use about 1/2 capful of Purex HE, compared to a full cap before the water softener.

I would strip and either cut back or try a different detergent - use about half of what you did before the soft water.
