Man from Snowy River
North by Northwest
Steel Magnolias is a great one, too!

Oh...I LOVE Steel Magnolias! I fell in love with the name Jackson from that!

Others are Gone with the Wind (also my fav. book)and Dirty Dancing. I have to watch them every time they are on TV even though I own them and could watch them without commercials.

Bridget Jones Diary (I am madly in love with Colin Firth - Mark Darcy)
Father of the Bride
Crossing Delancey (not a well-known movie - it is about a sophisticated NY Jewish woman who is set up by a matchmaker with a sweet guy who sells pickles in the Lower East Side)

DH's fave movie is Princess Bride, which I quite adore as well.

Dirty Dancing
Princess Bride
Death to Smoochy (if it ever makes it to TV)
Anything with Molly Ringwald

I somehow get sucked into Where the Heart Is every time it's on, too...not sure why, unless it's just on too much...

sidmand

Umm...sadly, I can't even fake a good, interesting one, because mine that I'll watch every single time it's on (much to DH's dismay) is...Overboard. A bad bad movie, but it'll get me every time. I'm also a sucker for Major League. Pretty much every movie that's on TV that I already own! DH will say, "but you own this, and you could watch it without commercials." And I'll answer, "yes, but it's not the same."

Smoochy has been on Comedy Central a frillion times! Best part- when Robin Williams spills coffee in his lap..."My Balls.... are on FIRE"

I love any movie with John Cusack in it

Serendipity
Sixteen Candles
High Fidelity
Say Anything
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.

Any of them will do.

The Breakfast Club, Amelie, Supersize Me, Garden State and Running on Empty are the only movies I have willingly watched more than once in the last 5 years. For Breakfast Club, Supersize Me and Running on Empty it was because I had friends I was appalled had not seen them yet! Unless Cars counts, I have seen that a lot and I actually don't mind it. I like it enough that I leave it on in the background long after Toby has wandered away from it, LOL. I am not much one for watching things over again. However, as far as TV I CAN'T resist, I do get sucked into episodes of Living Single everytime I am over at my Mom's apartment for more than 5 minutes. She records them for me. I know, it is sad. It is also a very good thing I don't have my own cable and DVR. :P

I don't generally watch movies on TV (we only have very basic cable, no movie channels) but DVDs I pull out when I want to zone out with my knitting after DD goes to bed are:

The Princess Bride (aka Best. Movie. Ever.)
Indiana Jones, The Last Crusade (Harrison Ford *and* Sean Connery - what's not to like?)
Independence Day
The Fifth Element
Stargate
Young Frankenstein
Rogers' & Hammerstein's Cinderella

Yeah. That's an odd mix of movies right there... There are others, but those are generally on the top of the DVD pile.

ETA: Ever After! I almost forgot!

Sarah :)

Fairy
01-16-2007, 11:51 PM
Oh, there are so many:

Working Girl
Ever After
Aliens
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
Independence Day
"Once More with Feeling" from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Ok, so it's TV.

ETA --> More!

Add me to the Dirty Dancing list!
Sense & Sensibility
Serendipity
Runaway Jury
Galaxy Quest ("the person who wrote this episode should DIE!")
"Once Upon a Time" from The Twilight Zone (with Buster Keaton). Ok, so it's another TV show.

bisous
01-17-2007, 12:06 AM
Okay, I'm going to echo many previous posters.

Here are some of mine including many that other posters mentioned:
Overboard (I have loved this movie forever!)
Steel Magnolias
Princess Bride
A League of Their Own
Nadia (made for TV movie anyone ever seen?)
The Slipper and the Rose
Center Stage
AND Galaxy Quest

I do NOT know why I love the last one so much. But it is my happy drug of choice these days. I find Sigourney Weaver particularly hysterical in it. Funny thing, too, that I'm not actually that in to Sci Fi...

Also, I find that I can tolerate Finding Nemo still even after watching it umpteen times first with my nephew and then my own son. It still makes me cry at the end. THAT is the sign of a good movie!

Overboard is soooo not a bad movie...

I love that one...

It's funny, I love almost every one of the movies you mentioned. The Princess Bride has been a favorite since the first time I saw it...when I was about 11 years old!

I do have to add one, though:
Groundhog Day

I have no idea why I like it so much, but when it comes on, I can't turn it off!

Another Princess Bride fan here. I can quote the whole movie. Not just the famous lines - the. whole. movie. Start to finish. It's seriously pathetic.

I'll always watch anything if it has Will Smith in it, and I have a guilty addiction to Rocky 1-4.

Some repeats - Princess Bride (just on the other night), Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Ever After, Stargate, Indy Jones (3 especially), Groundhog Day (love that movie!)

Twister ("cow")
While You Were Sleeping
Ladyhawk
Star Trek movies
Star Wars episodes 4 - 6 (the first three released although Empire is absolute fav for the Han/Leia scenes)

TV: Any episode of STNG, original Trek or the new Battlestar Galactica.

This might be a "made for tv" movie but everytime I see it on I have to watch it: Pure Country with George Strait. Something about him just drives me crazy and I am not a fan of most country music.

On the more traditional side:

I can't believe no one has said The Notebook. I've seen it at least 20 times. Also, The Royal Tenenbaums which a PP said.

V for Vendetta

SnuggleBuggles

And "Love Actually" and "Bridget Jones' Diary."

Can't resist the lure of "frat boy humor movies" like "Old School," "Wedding Crashers," "Animal House," and movies like that either. :)

ETA more...
The Princess Bride
Father of the Bride 1&2 with Steve Martin
Spiderman 1&2
Bowfinger (though it is never, ever on :()
Ocean's 11 and Ocean's 12 (so slick and such good eye candy!)
I have been stopping on Mr. and Mrs. Smith a ton lately now that it is on HBO (I have it on DVD but never put it in!)

I have seen these all so many times that I don't always stop for them anymore, depends on where they are in the movie:
90's teen movies like "10 Things I hate About You" and "She's All That"
80's teen movies like "Sixteen Candles" and "The Breakfast Club"

And, like someone else said- any episode of "Friends."

Army of Darkness. Whenever Sci-Fi runs it, I'm so there. :)

Movies I can (and have) watched a million and one times:

Sean of the Dead--Best. Movie. Ever.
Love Actually--gives even my cold, black heart the warm fuzzies. I always cry.
Amazon Women on the Moon--perfection
Before Sunrise--I do belive the most romantic movie ever made. Ethan Hawke when he was hot and not a skeleton
Dazed and Confused--This movie is just all kinds of awesome.

Also, any Lifetime move with Tori Spelling. Don't ask because I can't explain it.

Me too for any episode of Friends! Another thing that drives DH nuts. I wanted to buy Friends when it came out on DVD and he said, "What's the point?!"

I'm not young, but I like 10 Things I Hate About You too...just saw that the other day.

It's funny, I asked DH what movie I would watch every time and he said, "That bad Goldie Hawn/Kurt Russell one..." I guess he does know me pretty well afterall!

Nope, not the only one. Prob the first actor I fell in love with when I initially saw P&P many long years ago.
Incidentally, I also thought all the actors in last yrs P&P looked so darned young, and then I realized its prob just that I'm older.
So sad :(
But movie wise, I've watched P&P a zillion times. Also love Gwenyth Paltrow's Emma.

Life is Beautiful,

The scene in Terms of Endearment when Shirley Maclaine is yelling at the nurses

My mom had to buy the cassingle "Let the River Run" by Carly Simon from Working Girl.
My mom loved the movie and she loved the song even more. So, she played the cassingle

DH loves Princess Bride too--his Favorite---

Once, he filled out one of those chain email surveys, where you answer a bunch of questions about yourself, and one of them was "What's your favorite sandwich?" and he answered "An MLT, mutton, lettuce and tomato, where the mutton is nice and lean..."

And my mom read that, and didn't get the reference... so, she went out and bought a leg of lamb for us to have for dinner some night!

That was pretty damn funny.

Dodgeball! Yes, I forgot about that one. I love that movie. Heh, heh, did you know that Ben Stiller said he styled his character's hair after Patrick Swayze's 'do in Roadhouse? *giggle*

And Dead Again is awesome! I love Kenneth B. and Emma T. together, they were a great team. Ever see his Much Ado About Nothing? It's great. Even with totally hot but comes off as dumb as a box of rocks Keanu.

Moonstruck???

or even
Witches of Eastwick

I totally love those two, and if I happen to flip by them on tv, I will watch them, no matter where they are in the movie. It could be the very end...I'm gonna watch..

OH...and the Goonies too.

<Dead Again (I think this is the name of the movie. It is a suspense with Kenneth Branaugh and Emma and Robin Williams?)>

YES!!! I *LOVE* that movie!

I can't believe no one has mentioned GHOST! Who doesn't love the pottery scene as a guilty pleasure? And I always cry at the end...

And apparently, I am the only person in the free world who will drop anything like a hot potato to watch Xanadu. Yes, the movie with Olivia Newton John...rollerskating...with Gene Kelly...

...hello?

*tap* *tap* *tap*

...is this thing on? :)

They are all kind of different. You might like Prospero's Books or The Pillow Book. A Zed and Two Naughts is just bizarre.

I have been playing the Tulse Luper Journey game online (weird but fun) but haven't seen the associated movies yet.

Don't watch The Belly of an Architect for a few years.

Do you have a favorite movie that you could watch every single time it's on tv?

There's this movie that plays on WE every once and awhile--The Ring by Danielle Steele, I get sucked into watching it every time. It is such a weepie.

OK, I'm probably duplicating, but I don't remember everything everyone else listed.

To Kill a Mockingbird
North by Northwest
Witness
the original Parent Trap
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Love Actually
You've Got Mail
When Harry Met Sally
While You Were Sleeping
It's a Wonderful Life
Father of the Bride (Steve Martin version)
Little Women
and, as a nod to all of the times I watched it with my father...
The Dirty Dozen

Well, now that I've read everyone's answers, I kind of forgot The Sound of Music, since I used the wedding march from The Sound of Music as my wedding processional and coincidentally (actually it was) went to Austria on my honeymoon.

Wow. I thought I was the only one who had a crush on the captain. When I was like 12 and thought he was the hottest thing around, I was convinced that there was something seriously wrong with me since all of my friends were into New Kids on the Block.
