Just a tip to all who are interested...
We've currently been checking on prices for honeymoons, and have discovered that the prices for Europe right now are astonishingly reasonable if you are flexible and can fly mid-week. In fact, they are significantly more affordable in many cases than a trip to the islands.
My fiance works for a pharmaceutical company that contracts a travel agent within their facility for business travel, but also offers travel service for employees for non-business travel. THey provide substantial discounts to the employees, so we've found prices such as $475 per person for 3 days in Paris including airfare and accomodations, $675 per person for 6 days in Rome, also including airfare and accomodations, etc. Additionally, he gets reduced rates from several hotel chains for being an employee of this company. We get 15-30% off rooms at hotels like Holiday Inns, DoubleTree, etc., which we may be able to use to our advantage.
Also, my brother is currently interviewing for a job with American Airlines and part of his perks would include 9 "buddy passes" per year to give to friends for free airfare. He has offered my fiance and I two passes if he gets the job.
Moral of the story...check into any discounts that your employer may offer and network to cut costs.
