Has anyone ever ordered their gown through the Lucky Sixpence? From what I can tell, it is an actual brick and mortar bridal shop in Dallas, Texas, but they also sell online nationwide. They are quoting me 35% less than a well known bridal shop in my area for a designer gown. We're talking a $500 savings, so they've definitely caught my attention. I'm just a little scared by the whole process though...has anyone had any experience at all with them? Thanks is advance for your help

They are legit---we checked them out and found them to be reputable., We have added them to the list of folks who quote dresses for us with our BridalQuote feature on bridalgown.com.

hope that helps,

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THAT YOU USE THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE BE VERY CAUTIOUS. THERE IS A STORE IN SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS CALLED THE LUCKY SIXPENCE. THERE IS ALSO A SUPPOSED BUSINESS IN PLANO, TEXAS CALLED THE LUCKY SIXPENCE. THE EMAIL ADDRESS FOR THIS SUPPOSED BUSINESS IS WWW.LUCKYSIXPENCEONLINE.COM. IF YOU GO TO THIS WEBSITE, YOU WILL FIND AN ADDRESS AND A PHONE NUMBER. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THIS ADDRESS IS AN APARTMENT AND THE PHONE NUMBER IS A REGISTERED RESIDENTIAL LINE. MY SISTER HAS HAD TREMENDOUS PROBLEMS AS SHE THOUGHT SHE WAS USING A REPUTABLE SERVICE AND NOW SHE DOESN'T HAVE A WEDDING GOWN. HER WEDDING IS ON JUNE 1, 2002. SHE WAS TOLD BY KATRINA, THE WOMAN WHO OWNS THIS SUPPOSED BUSINESS, THAT HER BRIDAL GOWN AND OUR BRIDESMAIDS DRESSES WERE BURNT IN AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. I CALLED THE PLANO, TX FIRE DEPARTMENT AND THE A WOMAN THERE DID SOME RESEARCH FOR ME. SHE SAID THAT THERE WAS NO RECENT REPORTED FIRE IN THAT AREA AND THE MOST RECENT FIRE THAT FITS THE DESCRIPTION GIVEN TO MY SISTER BY KATRINA WAS OVER A YEAR AGO. I ALSO EMAILED WATTERS AND WATTERS WHO IS THE MAKER OF THE BRIDESMAIDS DRESSES. A REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE COMPANY CALLED ME AND SAID THAT THEY HAD NEVER DONE BUSINESS WITH A COMPANY BEARING THIS NAME OR AN INDIVIDUAL WITH THIS NAME. YET, ODDLY ENOUGH, KATRINA, THE OWNER OF THE LUCKY SIXPENCE SAID THAT THE DRESSES WERE ORDERED FROM THE COMPANY IN NOVEMBER. IN FACT, SHE EVEN SAID THAT SHE HAD RECEIVED THE SHIPMENT OF BRIDESMAIDS DRESSES BUT THAT THEY WERE DIFFERENT DYE LOTS SO THEY HAD TO BE RETURNED. I HAVE CURRENTLY BEEN UNABLE TO CONTACT ANYONE AT PRONOVIAS IN NEW YORK, BUT I AM NOW VERY POSITIVE THAT I WILL HEAR THE SAME THING. PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL. IT IS TWO MONTHS BEFORE MY SISTER'S WEDDING AND SHE NO LONGER HAS A WEDDING GOWN. ALSO, BE ADVISED THAT THERE IS ANOTHER LUCKY SIXPENCE AS I MENTIONED EARLIER. IT IS LOCATED IN SAN ANTONIO, TX AND ITS WEBSITE IS WWW.THELUCKYSIXPENCE.COM. ADVISE: I AM NOT MAKING ANY CLAIMS ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR STORE. IT IS REGISTERED WITH THE TEXAS BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU AND DOES NOT SEEM TO BE CONNECTED.

I ordered my gown from Katrina, and it was a Pronovias. We ordered it in January, and it came this week. She was friendly, polite and helpful, and I saved $700 on my gown. I am very happy.

Just curious, did she offer to replace the dresses or offer a refund?

Denise and Alan asked us to post here to clear the record, as it were. There was an electrical fire in our complex ( a multi-use facility with offices, retail, and rentals) and there was some smoke damage to about 25 gowns that were waiting to ship. We called everyone immediately to tell them we had sent the dresses to be cleaned, but were also prepared to replace the gowns absorbing all rush etc...fees or offer a full refund. We are very sorry that the writer of this post ( who isn't even one of our customers) wasn't satisfied with that response. Happily, all the brides affected, including the one mentioned above, have gowns to wear for their wedding a scant three weeks after the incident.

(Update: I did find Kat's email. The email address I'd found for her originally was incorrect. I'm hoping she responds ASAP. I'll keep you posted. For now, I'm hoping that I'll still be as pleased with her as I was in the beginning, and I'll be able to pass along a glowing review. <crossing fingers> If any brides have her number, I'd still appreciate being able to get a hold of her directly. Thanks!--Stacie)

I am in a total panic! A few months ago, I ordered five BM dresses from Kat at Lucky Sixpence (I spoke with her via phone and email). They were Watters & Watters dresses. Her quotes were reasonable (less than retailers, a tiny more than some other online sites) and although a number of other online sites had a bit of a better price on the dresses, I chose to give Kat my business based on a number of GLOWING reviews I read on this website at that time.

I was very pleased when I spoke with Kat on the phone, I thought she was incredibly sweet and helpful, and I was happy to give my business to such a nice person. She gave me an arrival date of July 10th. Of course, a few days after that date have gone by, and I decide to give her a quick call, just to check in as it were. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the number ANYwhere, so I hoped online to see if anyone here had posted her store's number. Well, you can imagine my surprise when I read all these horrible conflicting reports about Kat and her business. To make it worse, I tried to visit her website AND to email her, but the website doesn't work and the email was returned as a "nonexistent email address!!!!"

I'm hoping that this is a mistake, and that I wasn't wrong about Kat. I'm hoping she reads this and emails me ASAP, or that someone else who happens to have her number can email me immediately (I'd be so grateful!!).

Also, it is apparent that Denise and Alan might want to do a bit more research about Kat and her shop. They just recently gave her a glowing review, but if any of this is true, they should recind that review, as their opinions obviously count very highly among the readers here, and they might be misleading a great number of people.

My wedding is one month away, I just bought a house and have to move in 2 weeks, and we just found out that I'm pregnant. I'm beyond stressed, and the last thing I need is to have been swindled out of BM dresses and leaving me stranded to find FIVE dresses in a few short weeks. :(

Please, Kat, if you read this email me and let me know that everything is okay. Or if anyone has Kat's number, please email me right away at staciefiorito@attbi.com

Thank you so much! And good luck to all you other brides out there!

Stacie F

I would advise anyone who comes across The Lucky Sixpence - Katrina in Plano, Texas to quickly go elsewhere. I contacted her in March, 2002 after finding her on the internet. I live about 30 minutes away from her, so decided to go to her place of business. Before leaving, we were called by Katrina and told that she had fallen off a horse over the weekend and was on meds and couldn't drive to the shop. We arranged to meet at her apartment. On the way over, we looked for the store and couldn't find one. After meeting with her a few times, she explained that she would no longer have a store and that she cut her overhead and was working only out of her apartment. My daughter selected a BM dress from Watters and Watters and Katrina was given the money for five dresses around the first of April. (She said the money had to be in by then) A week ago Friday, we were contacted by DBS and told that, after many attempts to get the payment for the dresses from Katrina, her checks bounced and after calling her bank, they were told she closed her account. My daughters' wedding dress was also being "custom" made by Katrinas' seamstress?? We've given her $900.00. A week ago today, Tuesday, after back and forth arguing on the phone, Katrina said she would cancel the order and refund my money. It was only then that she said the dress was coming from Serafina in N.Y. That was the first I heard that Serafina was involved in this "custom" dress. Via e-mail last Tuesday, Katrina wrote that she had credited my credit card and was mailing the proof the next day. It's been a week now and no credit has been made. Katrina also forged my daughters' signature on two documents that were sent to DBS, overcharged us for the dresses, listed my daughters' wedding date incorrectly, and has lied to both DBS and myself. I have a report filed with the Plano, Texas police department and now have a course of action to follow in an attempt to recover my money. As stated in other posts, there is a Lucky Sixpence in Austin, Texas. This location in Plano is not the same as the Austin, Texas location.

Did you ever contact her. There is no "them". There is no brick store. I live 30 minutes from her apartment and that is where she works out of. She has taken quite a bit of money from me and others. I have contacted the Plano Police and filed a report. Contact me if you need info.
