i bought my invitations on-line from www.thebusybride.com--they are in the bridal bargains book on p. 226 and are highly recommended in the book. you can still order invitations from some of the major invitation companies (mine are from birchcraft) but you will save a TON of money by going through the busy bride. for $336.00, i got:

75 invitations (w/ lined envelopes)
75 reception cards
75 RSVP cards
75 thank you cards
75 place cards
75 bookmarks
200 napkins
100 matchboxes

good luck!

It depends on what your budget is. Some party stores offer some good discounts. In some cases, shipping is free also with these stores.
If you want to print your own, Michaels sells invitations, and RSVP cards already boxed(no lined inside envelopes however). They usually have a coupon in the weekend paper to save, and sometimes have a sale on them. They come in packages of 50. It's a pretty good deal, and they look nice.

Have you tried www.Wedding.Orders.com. I was so happy with the many free invitation catalogs that I got. The prices on many of the catalogs seem very inexpensive. I have heard great things about all of their brands.

Worth it to check them out, I think!

I got mine from Willow Tree Lane, which will send a free catalog and free samples. I remember their price being lower than what was listed for thebusybride.com, but you probably won't be getting the extra like bookmarks, napkins, matchboxes. No big deal if you don't want that stuff.

I got thank you cards and place cards very cheaply at a party supply store. I just bought basic cream, and that was a sufficient "match" for me.

The day after I ordered my invitations, I saw great print your own invitations at either OffixMax of Office Depot. The cards were precut about 5x7 inches - very important to me since all the other do it yourself ones had perferorated edges. The larger size meant I could have also printed the reception information on the card, thus saving some weight and the bother of a separate reception card. A year after I was married, I saw similar ones at Michael's. If you really want to save money and don't mind doing some layout on the computer, those invitations would be great!

Also, if you want to do your own programs, I bought some ones at a religious bookstore, not a bridal supply place. Worked fine, cost very little.

Hi. I'm planning on getting married within the next year and I'm having a struggle finding a good place to get invitations. Does anyone know of a cheap place to order invitations? I'm also looking at printing my own if anyone knows where to get the paper. Please HELP!

Hi! We used Reaves Engraving as was mentioned in the bridal Bargains book. Couldn't have been happier! The invitations ended up costing us less then we thought, and the quality was outstanding. Heavy duty invites, very elegant. There was a mistake in printing, but they were on the ball with helping us, and didn't charge to correct. The invitations were so nice we recived 3 of them framed as wedding gifts from family members!

Try Quaint Wedding Stationery at
www.webspawner.com/users/quaintweddings/

25% discount, no shipping, no handling. They carry the new "Sep'n'Send" Invitation/respond/reception printed on one sheet that separates. Very reasonable. Do a search on the web for "sep'n'send" and you'll find Quaint has them!

I printed my own! I bought cards at Michael's Crafts & did a little layout work on my computer. Very easy - very inexpensive. I know that I didn't get the feel or look of an engraved invitation, but honestly, who, other than you & your mom, will even keep the invitation as a momento. I've never saved an invitation other than my own.
I also made the RSVP cards, the menu cards for the tables at the reception, and thank-you notes (a little bit more elaborate - we added some hand-made artwork.

I went to remoteassistance.com (and I think I was referred through another posting on this site) and ordered Pocketfolds. They came three days later. I then went to a paper warehouse and bought my own paper (250 sheets for about $20) along with the response cards and envelopes. I then, with the help of my future borther-in-law and his abilities and excellent printer; did them all myself. I was/am very pleased with the results. They went out last Friday!! Just 54 days until my wedding!!

I am very curious about getting invitations at the party supply store/outlet. I was wondering what your experience was with them as far as curstomer service, etc. They have the same invitations there as at fancy stationery stores, but for 30% less. I am afraid of compromising my service for a cheaper price. Thanks!

I also used Remote Assistance. We ordered all of our supplies from there, the pocketfolds and all of the card stock for the invitations, the reception cards and the response cards. We were so pleased- it was a great price and great quality!

We then went on Fonts.com and found a font that we loved, downloaded it to our computer for $22 and printed everything ourselves- it was so easy and so affordable!

I just saw some cute invitations at Target for $25. They were plain, with silver hearts, but nice.

What I did was go to www.paperzone.com, and did a little design of my own. They have suggestions there, or you can be creative with all their different papers, envelopes, ribbons, and punches. I bought 250 sheets of nice linen card stock and linen envelopes, with some laser-safe vellum, ribbon supplies, and punches, for $50.

You can get discounted invites at many places including party stores, however, you may find that you wont get good customer service. There are some home based companies which sell discounted invites, such as www.thewriteinvite.net which may be able to help you. Plus you will get customer service.

Good luck!
