I ordered my daughter's invitations from this company because they offered the best price on the invitation she wanted. I was so disappointed when I received them.

The text was not laid out on the paper (a single, heavy, non-folding card) like I expected. We asked for left-aligned corner copy, which they did, but the entire text of the invitation was not aligned vertically. Instead, there was a big blank gap at the top of the invitation & a very tiny blank space at the bottom. It really looked goofy.

When I called them to complain about the layout, I was told since I did not ask to have them laid out vertically-centered they didn't do it that way. The manager even told me that they INTENTIONALLY lay the text off-center because "if they did center it vertically, it would look off-center to the naked eye." Gimme a break!!!

This is the second wedding I have planned, and I didn't have to make such a request for my first daughter's wedding invitations. It made me furious that she implied it was my fault! After I told them I was going to dispute the charges with my credit card company, they offered to re-print them for a fee (~ $55). I reluctantly agreed, just to get it over with. I was afraid if I didn't take them up on their offer my credit card company would have seen that as an indication of my fault, not theirs. I really feel like they should have re-printed them for free as it was their mistake, not mine.

The second batch was better than the first, but by that time I had such a bad taste in my mouth for this company I could barely look at them. In the end, I spent as much if not more than I would have elsewhere.

I still have another daughter to marry off. I can assure you I won't even consider The American Wedding Album for her invitations. These people don't understand the concept of "customer service." They truly remind me of those vendors who are just out to make as much off you as they can because they know you won't be a repeat customer.

I am so sorry you were treated so badly by American Wedding Album. I have no first hand knowledge of this company, but during my 30 years doing business at Quaint Wedding Stationery, Accessories and Decorating I've prided myself on satisfying my customers. If they are unhappy, I make it right. This industry is best advertised by word of mouth, and if even one customer is unhappy, it can be devastating to a business.

You didn't mention how many invitations you ordered, and I would be curious to know, since they charged you $55 to reprint the order.
I'm betting that they covered their cost and didn't split the expense with you...which would have been my policy if the error was yours. If the error was mine...I would have covered the entire amount.

A tip for the future: Often times a footnote set in the lower corner will make an invitation appear to have too much space at the top. However, if the body type is centered, and a request is made to position the copy equally at top and bottom, the appearance is much better. The excuse you were given about "intentionally setting copy off center" is baloney, as you suggested. Hope you have a better experience with your next child's wedding. We'd love to serve you...please check out our site.

We ordered 225 invitations, and I do believe that I was forced to bear the entire cost of re-printing (which I was not happy about).

Regarding your tip about requesting the copy be equally positioned at the top & bottom - this was the whole issue with this company. There is no place in their order form to make such a request. And since I've never seen an invitation that was printed otherwise, it never occurred to me this company would print them any differently. When I ordered my oldest daughter's wedding invitations (from a different company), they were printed in this manner without my having to make a special request for it. Although I've received many wedding invitations over the years, this was the first time I saw one printed in this manner. Maybe invitations are printed differently in different areas of the country. I know there are regional differences in weddings, so maybe this is just one of them. This was a hard lesson to learn, but I'm sure I won't forget it when I need to order invitations for my youngest daughter's wedding (when that time arrives).

Thank you for your response. I'd love to check out your site!
