I really want to try to learn Calligraphy from a kit sold in a Crafts store. Has anyone ever tried this?? I don't think I'll do the Invitation Addressing, because I am making the favors (Don't want to overwhelm myself)- - But, I wanted to do the place cards, thank you cards, Programs, etc.....
Thanks for the input!!!:D

Well, I'm taking a Calligraphy class at the local community college that teaches us how to USE the kit... Does that count? ;)

If you're referring to the fountain pen style calligraphy pens offered by Schaeffer, then it's a good bet. I learned calligraphy when I was in the 8th grade. Someone gave my sister the kit but she never showed any interest in it. So I took it up and taught myself.
Purist would say you haven't learned until you take a class with a teacher. I would have to disagree. All it takes is a steady hand (you must be willing to practice a lot).
I addressed both of my sisters' wedding invitations using calligraphy. I intend to do mine as well.
If you're invitation has colored envelopes, you can buy a gold calligraphy pen from ##### Blick.
Have fun! :7

Hi,
I just wanted to back up Wendy's comment. I've also used a kit to learn Calligraphy. It does take a lot of practice, but if you are willing to put in the time it is perfectly do-able.
Good luck
