I am completely obsessed with letterpress invites, but they are so pricey. Does anyone discount them anywhere??

Also, what do people do if calligraphy is out of your budget? Is there something you can do before you address the envelopes yourself?

I truly understand your obsession! I think letterpress invitations are absolute works of art, and I desperately wanted them for my wedding. However, I did a LOT of research and they are just plain expensive, period.

The closest I came to a "discount" was this: I approached a professor at my alma mater, where they have letterpress classes, and asked if she had a student who might want to do letterpress wedding invites as a class project. She was open to the idea but the whole thing never transpired. The students I tried to work with were too flaky and I was worried that my invitations would not get done on time (and I had 18 months to plan).

I ended up "settling" for engraved invitations, which were absolutely beautiful. After researching those, the only places that discounted were kind of flaky, too. Very frustrating. I finally ended up just paying full price and working with a local stationery story. It was worth it to be relieved of the worry that the whole thing would be a disaster.

Sorry I don't have better news. Maybe someone else has found something I missed!
