I have had good luck with reavesengraving.com. Reaves is located in NC and does the vast majority of its business by mail and over the Internet. They offer only traditional style thermographed and engraved invitations on white and ecru paper, and also provide machine addressing in many styles. Their service and advice have been wonderful.

I too had a good experience with Reaves Engraving, although I did not end up buying my invitations from them. They got samples to me very quickly, and the quality and prices couldn't be beat.
I decided to use more non-traditional invitations. I'm doing invitations with real rose petals pressed into the paper. Check out www.formal-invitations.com. They have some really unique invitaitons, and you have the option of buying a kit for your computer, or having them make the invitations for you. Also has good prices.

I had a very experience with them, as a matter of fact I just finished licking the last envelope. They were very helpful and the quality of the papers was wonderful. They have a very classic collection, very elegant. They do engraving and thermography. Also, they were very helpful and make sure that you follow the correct ettiquette. They also provide calligraphy service - well it'sdone by a computer, but it looks good and the price is right. The order came Before the promised date. I also bought some blank programs from them which I am going to run through my printer and have copied. I highly recommend them. Best of luck.

Reave's IS EXCELLENT!
They saved me approximately $900+ on my engraved wedding invitations. I used their card stock verses Crane's (I couldn't tell the difference)because the watermark wouldn't show anyway.
I was so pleased with their work, service, prices and overall GREAT attitude(if they say they will call, they will call!) that I ordered from them for four other events.
They just did my daughter's birth announcement which was done from an original piece of art(once again they saved me about $200)and it turned out beautifully!
On more than one occasion I've been under time pressures and they have worked with me to get what I need when I need it.
They also do great personal stationary.
If you order from Reave's you WILL NOT BE SORRY!!!

Thanks for the great idea! I went to the reavesengraving.com website and there is absolutely no contact information!!! Ican't imagine doing a website and leaving off some important information such as: phone number, address, email address. How on earth do you contact them????:(

The info IS on their site (www.reavesengraving.com) but for some reason I can only see it when I'm using Netscape. Don't know why, and I've been meaning to ask them about it but it slipped my mind numerous times :+ Anyway, I ordered both my invitations and my announcements from Reaves and have nothing but praise for their quality and customer service. My invites are bilingual (English and French) and they have a staff member whose sole duty is to consult on foreign language orders. Fantastically helpful. I can't say enough good things about them. :)
Cheers!

Thanks for the info. I finally was able to get the contact information. Their website doesn't show up on some browsers. I had the same trouble - I think I looked up their phone number on the internet to call them. They sent me beautiful samples promptly. Absolutely quality paper and printing!

Hi. I've seen a fair number of recommendations of Reaves on this site, and I need to chime in with my disaster story.
We ordered our wedding invitations from Reaves, and it was the single worst mistake of all our wedding preparations. After we paid extra for rush delivery, the invitations were lost by UPS, and Reaves was not interested in taking any steps to help us deal with UPS, nor would they agree to print us new invitations, even though they could have recovered the expense of doing so from UPS. When the invitations finally arrived three weeks late, they contained, not one, but three typographical errors. For example, on the return envelopes, they inexplicably printed our address as being in Hollywood, FLORIDA, rather than Hollywood, California.
Reaves reluctantly offered to reprint the invitations, but by this time, we were so far behind schedule that we had to use the existing ones anyway, crossing out by hand the mistakes on each of the cards and envelopes. They refused to refund any money to us, and the credit card company couldn't help us because we had actually used the product. Maybe our experience was a fluke, but our experience was that these ninnies behaved in a rude, greedy and inept manner the moment something went wrong. I'm not generally a short-tempered person, but this is possibly the worst experience I've ever had in any business transaction in which I have ever played a part. I hate this company and wish them the worst.
