I just want to reiterate the point Bridal Bargins made about colleges and universities. I am getting married and having the reception at my alma mater and the prices are fantastic. They are charging me roughly $20 a head for a family style reception with two entrees. There are no extra fees for linens, cake cutting, etc. The only other add ons will be alcohol, dance floor rental, and service charge and tax.

Plus, the college is a place I've always felt I would want to share with my children. Now my fiance will have a reason to share it with them as well.

As an added bonus, the president has offered her house to my wedding party and myself for free!

I agree. Most universities and colleges have a "University Club". They are very reasonable especially if that's your alma mater. It's great for sentimental reasons as well, especially if that's where the two of you met like how my husband and I did.

I would also have to agree, when I was looking for sites at my husband's alma mater the University was going to give us a $1000 discount because he graduated from that school.
