In the wake of last Tuesday's events I don't particularly feel like doing any planning, but life must go on (else the bad guys win, right?)... Anyway, I live near the water in SE CT and the fiance (how is it that I can't stop saying "boyfriend"?? "Fiance" sounds silly) and I are trying to hammer out the reception site for Sept/Oct 2002. Right now we've looked at the Mystic Hilton, Seamen's Inne, and a few others, but we're looking at less than 150 people and we're not excited about the prices we've seen. The cheapest by FAR is the Officer's Club at the US Coast Guard Academy, but I was at a wedding there last year and wasn't too impressed with the food. I'm going with my boy..er, fiance in a week to meet with the woman in charge there (he's already talked with her and was very impressed with her attitude and helpfulness). To make a long post short, has anyone heard of other neat locales with good food suitable for the unpredictable NE weather? Any other experiences with the Coast Guard Academy? Our church is in Mystic, and we want the reception site to be close. Thanks!
