I am having a hard time finding a reasonably priced reception site in the Akron area. Most web searches come up withnext to no results. The only historic sites I have found cost an arm and a leg. Hotels cost more than I would like to spend, and I have not had much luck with restaurants. Our church is gorgeous, but the social hall is a big cafeteria. Any new ideas? any places to check out? PLEASE HELP!!

I know Stan Hywett Hall is beautiful, although I don't know anything about the price and it is probably expensive. Tangier's Restaurant hosts proms that are gorgeous. I hope this is giving you some ideas. There is also a beautiful bed and breakfast on West Market. However, I do not know the prices. Good Luck!

I agree - Stan Hywett hall IS beautiful. I would check there if you have not already. I've also worked at the Carousel Dinner Theatre. They have a reception room that's quite lovely. I don't know there policy about renting it out, but you should call them. If I were you, I would NOT mention it's for a wedding at first. Use the old "family function" line. In my oh-so-humble opinion, the producer at this place is an incredibly cheap b*st*rd, and would most likely have visions of dollar signs dancing in his head at the thought of a wedding reception! If I think of anyplace else, I will write again. Good luck and congratulations!

You are both right. Stan Hywet is gorgeous, and if the price were right, that would be first choice. However, they only rent to members. Then, you have to pay 1100 for the Carriage House. After that, you have to go through one of their caterers, which is a minimum of $30 a person. That takes up my entire budget right there. Thank you for the help, though. If you think of anything else, I would be grateful for the help.
