I found a great site. It is a restaurant (Casa Gardens)run by a non-profit organization that runs the children's home in Sacramento, Ca.
It is a pretty, warm, restaurant with original artwork, plants and picture windows with a view to the garden. Since it is non-prof. the gratuity is tax deductible, there is no cake-plating fee, the rental fee is low and reasonable, $250 for 3 hours, $100 for a wedding (1/2 hour). The food is hearty and delicious and the staff friendly. If you are having a warm-weather wedding, you can also get married in the beautiful garden. I am having a teatime hor deourves, cake and champagne reception that equals the rental cost of many places I previously looked at. There is also space for a dance floor, beer, wine, champ. can be served and you can bring your own for a corkage fee. Only downside is they can't pack a going away box for insurance reasons. Otherwise it is great.
