I am looking for flower type and color suggestions for the bridal bouquet at a Winter Wedding, New Years Eve 2001. My dress is ivory and has a hint of metallic gold in the the bodice. For some reason I get lost when it comes to flowers. Basically, I am looking for ideas from someone who has done a Winter wedding or knows a lot about flowers. Thanks!!!

I am getting married in January 2002 and I am using the decorations the chuch has and our reception site is leaving up the decorations from Christmas. You might want to ask your reception site if they will leave them up. It will be cheaper because then you won't have to spend as much on flowers. My bridesmaids will probably carry white or red poinsettas with some little white flowers. Hope I helped some and good luck!

I am getting married NYEve 2001 as well! And, I have exactly the same question. My wedding will be in Houston, Tx. where it won't get too cold, so the reception is on a yacht on Clear Lake. Just like the last person who responded to you, all the X-mas decorations will be left on the boat. (I may try to do the same with the church.) That should save money. But, I still can't figure out which flowers will be economical/in bloom down here (or anywhere) at that time of year. PLEASE, if you get good info, post it! I will do the same.
Good Luck!

I did the flowers for my wedding and 6 friends weddings. I enjoyed it so much that I took a bunch of floral design classes and plan on doing flowers for weddings out of my home as a self supporting hobby. Hey, everyone should be able to afford beautiful flowers for their wedding.
I'm doing a friends wedding this December.Since we live in Houston, just about anything is available with the exception of some summer flowers. For her bouquet we are using white roses, stock, fern and...poinsettias. I know, you think of pointsettias as being kind of weird. On the plus side, the red blooms are bright and BIG.The fact that the blooms have an open face makes it really easy to get a lot of bang for your buck.Since she wanted a big cascading bouquet, we are doing a velvet brocade muff ( hand warmer thingee)with the flowers attached to the front and cascading down to her knees. We have done the silk mock up and it looks great!

Boxingtily,
Well, maybe you would like to consider doing two weddings this December. I would be interested in talking to you about the possibility of your doing the flowers for my wedding. If you would like, please email me at shawnheiser@pdq.net.
Thanks.
