2009 Vista: Amazing stroller, great value with a few minor issues., May 29, 2009

Pros: Maneuverability, Versatility, Quality, Canopy, Seat height, indepentent bassinet, option for 2 seats
Cons: Seat recline, little suspension

I did a LOT of research before getting my stroller. I had decided to get the Cameleon, because I had tested the 2008 Vista and didn't like it as much as the Cameleon. I actually went into the store to purchase the Bugaboo but came out with the Vista! I saw the 2009 Vista and fell in love with it, after 90 minutes of trying them both, asking millions of questions and thinking it over and over... I decided to get this one, it was a very close call. It has a lot of the benefits of the Bugaboo, it handles just as well, but I chose it over the Bug for these reasons:

1. It's a much better value, you get a separate bassinet (I was going to purchase an extra Cameleon frame for $135 to be able to switch without swaping fabrics), and several accesories. You don't need snow tires (bugaboo's are $89) because the front tires are bigger and more rugged. 2. It's not so common, at least where I live eeeveryone has a Bugaboo. Other accesories aren't as expensive (i.e. the travel bag is $60 vs. the $160 Bugaboo travel bag) 3. The company is known for their amazing customer service. And they're very environmentally conscious. 4. With the new Rumble seat coming out next spring, it can turn into a double stroller, which means I'll get a lot more use out of it and may even be able to skip purchasing another stroller when baby #2 comes along. 5. The seat is higher, so farther from fumes, pets, and closer to table level and mom (no bending over). 6. The canopy is wonderful, really covers the sun from any angle with the pull out sun hood. Tha Bug's is pretty crappy, hence the need for $30 parasol. 7. More user friendly, you can recline the seat with one hand, and open the bumper bar from one side. And although I don't find the fold of the Cameleon hard, this one is easier (my DH was annoyed about the 2 part fold of the Bug).

Now, what I like better about the Cameleon is that is has more suspension, and that the seat can come to a fully upright position, and fully flat.

I've just had it for 3 weeks but I'm loving almost every aspect of it, it handles amazingly both indoors and out. We have terrible sidewalks and pavement, and it does great, also great on grass and snow. I took it to Whole Foods and it fit through the tiny tiny checkout aisles easier than my Graco because it's easier to maneuver. It trully can be pushed with one hand and turns on a dime! Crowded aisles at the grocery store were no problem. It is a little less wide than the 2008 (just a tad wider than the Bug), and I walked with friends and their strollers today and we all fit perfectly on the sidewalk without bumping into each other. Also the fabrics are much nicer now and the seat is so comfy my 9 month old took a 90 minute nap in it today, in the other stroller he couldn't sleep more than 20-30 minutes. Of course the basket is great and easily accesible, I fit my diaper bag, everyone's coat and still have room to spare. It takes up less space than my Graco in the trunk, and since it stands when folded I don't have to bend over. It's also lighter than a lot of other Bugaboo-ish strollers and other full size strollers. Really, for all it has, 24 lb is a very decent weight (it's only like 2 lb heavier than the Cameleon).

Now what I don't like: 1. The seat recline: It doesn't come to fully upright and my baby hates this. I've read a lot of reviews for the previous model and this one is a common issue, I cannot believe they didn't think of improving this for the 2009. At the store it didn't seem so bad, but now my baby looks really reclined to me, and since the bottom of the seat is also at an angle it's hard for him to pull himself up using the bumper bar. I was actually awake half the night wondering if I made the right choice because of this. I hope my baby get's used to it soon, or I'll have to put a pillow or something behind him. This is the main issue I have with the stroller. 2. The ride is bumpier than I expected (although it is way way better than our Graco and my friends' Pliko P3's). I wish it had more suspension and the wheels were less rigid to absorb more shock. 3. This is a minor issue but the rain cover doesn't fit the bassinet, they should make a cover for the bassinet. I'm thinking of buying the Mutsy one, I think it should fit the Vista bassinet. Oh, and as with every high end stroller the cup holder is extra ($25).

I have to say the customer service is also amazing, they're super friendly and will solve any issue immediately.

I do, overall love this stroller and I hate myself for not getting it sooner (but then of course I wouldn't have the 2009!)

UPDATE after 8 months of use: still loving it, but I think the seat will not accomodate tall kids over 2.5 yrs. because the canopy is too low. Also the cupholder is not good at all, I replaced it with a Valco universal cup holder.

An OK stroller but does not compare in quality to the bug, July 10, 2007

Pros: Less $ than the bug, separate seat and bas - no fabric swap
Cons: There are many - please read below

After a lot of consideration, I decided to buy the Uppababy Vista. As soon as I got home I unloaded it from the box and put it together. As soon as I was done I took it all apart again, loaded it into the box, brought it back to the store and bought the bugaboo. I was unhappy with the uppababy for the following reasons: 1. It's huge! - the couple of inches in the width compared to the bugaboo makes a big difference - I could barely get it through the doors in my house, let alone the crowded supermarkets. 2. Parts of the stroller just looked cheap i.e. - the welding at the base of the stroller looked like it was done by my toddler. 3. One reason I decided to buy the uppababy was because you could fold the stroller with the seat on it. However, you can only fold it if the seat is in the forward facing position. So if the seat is not facing forward, you have to take it off and turn it around. So it very often will end up being a two step fold - just like the bugaboo. In addition, once it is folded, (with or without the seat) it's very bulky. It takes up much more space in the trunk than the bugaboo. 5. Getting the bassinet and seat to click into the stroller frame was difficult. It's much easier with the bugaboo. 6. I bought the graco car seat adaptor for the uppababy and although the car seat clicks in by the head, the front just rests on a bar and you're supposed to use a lap belt to secure it. It seemed very unsturdy to me. With the bugaboo, both the back and front of the car seat clicks into the frame - much more sturdy! These are the things that bothered me after owning the uppababy vista for just a few hours... I exchanged the uppababy today with the the Bugaboo. I've already put the bugaboo together and I love it already!

Excellent urban stroller!, April 28, 2008

Pros: Very sturdy, steers extremely well, folds up easily and looks fantastic!
Cons: Can be bulky at times

I LOVE my Uppababy Vista stroller! My husband and I agonized over which stroller to purchase. We were choosing between the Bugaboo, Bumbleride and the Uppababy. We ultimately went with the Uppababy because it had better wheels, better value (than the Bugaboo), looks great and came with all the basic essentials like bassinet, toddler seat, sun and rain shade. The only thing I worried about was the width of the stroller, which was quite wide. But with the new narrower wheels that the company issued, that was no longer a problem. I live in NYC, and I can get through to most places with this stroller. The stroller is a pleasure to push, the baby is very comfortable, and the bassinet doubles as a mobile bassinet inside our apt.

Great but a little wide, July 12, 2007

Pros: Manoeverability, space, high quality finish..
Cons: Wide back wheel base makes tight spots difficult

We went to buy a Valco stroller at Schneiders in NYC and much preferred this to the Valco or the ubiquitous Bugaboo. It has all the features of the Bugaboo, with better basinette height (for mom's back), bigger basket and easy fold without removing the seat. As mentioned in other reviews, it doesn't get flat tires either. I am really pleased with it, and get compliments on it all the time. It is super-easy to push even on NYC sidewalks, and turns on a dime. Our daughter is 5 mos and still comfortable in the basinette. The reversible ventilated/fleecy mattress is great, and all parts are easy to clean. We got the car seat adapter for our Graco carseat and this works well too. The only room for improvement is occasionally the back wheels are too wide to negotiate some store aisles and doorways. We paid $600. 5 months on, it shows no sign of wear and tear, and I have taken the wheelbase to Europe without damage or incident. Highly recommend it.

I'm a converted Bugaboo User, July 5, 2007

Pros: Separate Basinette & Seat, Folds without taking seat off
Cons: Availability - More retailers need to sell this

WOW! I'm a converted Bugaboo User. I had a Bugaboo Frog, which was a good stroller and had the features I wanted/needed. BUT, the things I didn't like about the Bugaboo have been corrected with the UPPA Baby VIsta Stroller. First of all, I didn't like having to change the fabric on the Bugaboo between basinette and Stroller Seat. The UPPA Baby comes with both option and you can easily switch between the basinette and the seat. Secondly, I didn't like having to take the seat off the Bugaboo when I wanted to fold it. As a result, I never took it in my car. The UPPA Baby stroller folds relatively flat without taking the seat off. Thirdly, I stopped using the Bugaboo when my son was 11 months old because I got a flat tire and never had time to go and buy a new tube and change the tube. The UPPA Baby comes with flatless tires.

Now I'll stop comparing and highlight the UPPA Baby's merits. It's a relatively lightweight stoller for its size. I like how high up the baby sits. The adjustable height of the handle is nice. It's durable and fashionable. It's reasonably priced with other stollers in its class. And if you look at UPPA Baby's website, they state the new features they're about ready to launch.

The only thing I would add to this stoller is a strap for my wrist. I live in a hilly, wintery area and was nervous going down steep icy hills without that feature.

I sold my Bugaboo and this is now my primary stroller. Now I need UPPA Baby to develop a twin stroller ASAP because I'm due to deliver twins in about two weeks.

Thumbs up all around.
