The Schwinn Safari is the same exact stroller as the Instep Safari. They are both made by Pacific Cycle. The ONLY difference is the fabric. I have had experience with both of them.
I purchased the Safari to use for neighborhood walks, light jogging (with the front wheel in the fixed mode), zoo trips, etc.
I chose the Safari mainly because of the price (I was trying to keep the purchase under $200) and because I had read great reviews about this stroller.
The first time I used the stroller I was amazed! I absolutely loved how easy it was to push. Previously, I had been taking my walks with a Zooper ZStreet. I had NO idea what a difference the air-filled tires would make.
Steering was super easy.
It handled bumpy sidewalks, grass, & gravel with ease.
I loved all the convenient features: child snack tray, parent tray, decent sized basket underneath, and, a great little pouch on the back of the hood perfect for keys, cell phone, and more (pretty spacious).
I found the Safari to be a little bulky & awkward to fold. This really wasn't an issue for me though since I rarely took it in the car.
This could've been the perfect stroller for me, however, I ended up returning FOUR of them in the span of a month.
The canopy was loose (wouldn't stay extended properly) on the first one I purchased.
The child tray wouldn't lock into place on the second one. There must have been something wrong with the frame because I tried a replacement tray & that wouldn't work either.
On the third stroller, after about a week of use the frame started squeeking & the brake bar started to drag causing a clicking noise when the wheels were in motion.
I liked this stroller enough to give it a fourth shot...but, after a week of use the brake started to drag again. I considered trying to "rig" something to fix it when I noticed that the handlebar was coming apart by the height adjustment.
I know that with all the issues I've had I should give this stroller an "F"..however, I cannot bring myself to do that. This stroller offers a lot for the price. If you can manage to get one that won't give you any trouble (or if you're handy enough to fix it)...I think you'll like it.
That said, after four tries...I gave up & purchased a BOB Revoltion (which I am THRILLED with).
Unfortunately, I ended up spending way more than I planned to though.
If the Safari has the features you are looking for, I honestly think it's worth a try...BUT, make sure you purchase it from a place that has a good return policy just in case.
