Pros:
light to handle, light to use
Cons:
fold is not intuitive
|
|
This is a nice stroller for in and out of the car, easy to steer on streets and indoors. The fold is a bit of a pain, and you have to remember to release the canopy lock or it will break. Also, the canopy could be larger and give more coverage. Hanging a diaper bag can cause it to tip, maybe that is the case with all lightweight strollers. The manual said it was appropriate for young babies, but at 6 months my baby was afraid of the stroller. My baby likes it now at a year.

Pros:
An umbrella that can actually take small bumps and curbs
Cons:
The two-handed fold; learning how to fold/unfold the stroller; a bit pricey
|
|
We purchased a Maclaren Quest as our travel/shopping stroller and are very pleased with it. Our other stroller is a BOB Revolution, but there are times when it is too big (wide), heavy, or bulky. Not only is the Mac good in stores and in and out of the car, but barring very snowy sidewalks or mud, our Mac is also an OK outside stroller. It is my understanding that many umbrella-type strollers are too flimsy for sidewalk cracks, curbs etc., but we have no trouble with our Mac - and you should see the state of the sidewalks here! It's a bit tricky learning how to fold/unfold, but once you get the hang of it, it's fine. It is a bit difficult to decide where to put the baby while you're setting it up though, since it's impossible to do one-handed.An added bonus is that we were able to use this stroller from about 3 mos. on, since our DS had good head control. It is not uncommon for many umbrellas to be rated for older children only. Some reviewers have noted its tippiness and flimsiness - I would just stress that maybe this is not the best choice if you are only going to buy ONE stroller. Personally, I don't balance shopping bags on the handles so I haven't had that problem, but I almost lost the Mac the other day when I parked on a steep hill, in a strong wind. And the brakes were on! So, I would recommend keeping an eye on it, because the materials that make it so light and easy to carry also make it less than steady if the child is not sitting in it.We are also very pleased with the higher handle height as taller parents, and the one-handed steer is very useful. The price is a bit of a shock, but for our lifestyle, it's worth it. It would be nice if the airline carrying bag wasn't extra, but it seems that all the stroller-extras these days cost extra $$.

Pros:
Great steering, 1-handed fold
Cons:
Too delicate!
|
|
I bought this stroller to use when running errands in the car and when travelling by public transportation. It's very lightweight, has easy one-handed steering and fold, and the handles are comfortable for parents. However, the stroller is very delicate! After minimal use, the canopy got bent out of shape. While it was easy to fix myself (with help from a mom on BBB), I expect a bit more from a $200 stroller! Also, EVERYONE seems to wax poetic about how Macs stand up to tough urban environments (ie: lousy sidewalks). That hasn't been my experience- it seems like a pretty bumpy ride on our neighborhood sidewalks (walking from our house to the bus stop) for my son. Also, I find that the brakes are difficult to operate with my foot. Not terrible, but I've used strollers with brakes with larger levers, making it easier to "kick" it. Onthe plus side, in comparison with other strollers in the same weight range, the Quest's padding is definetly superior.
All in all, for a regular everyday-go-for-a-wa lk- around- the-neighborhood, I'd skip this and go for something more-full-featured. If I could do it again, I would have saved myself the money and bought a Combi or Chicco for errands and public transportion.

Pros:
lightweight, compact folding, pocket on sunshade
Cons:
small basket, tips over with bags and no baby
|
|
Love this stroller! Bought this stroller for future travel, quick trips to mall, & public transportation since I also own a Rock Star Baby. My daughter seems very comfortable in it. Love that it reclines unlike some of the other umbrella strollers out there. It reclines very easily as well. Handles city sidewalks better than I thought it would.
Love the pocket on the sunshade! I would love to have a bigger basket but then again, it is a small stroller. Easy to push and steer especially one-handed. Turns better than my full-size stroller.

We just love our Mac Quest! I use a MBUS for neighborhood walks and trips to the zoo, but my Mac Quest lives in my trunk has been perfect for the mall, airline travel, and even boutique shopping downtown. My daughter started using it consistently at about 6 months and the adjustable recline was perfect for when she needed to nap. Others have mentioned that the lack of a snack tray or bumper bar may be bothersome but we never owned a stroller with either so we don't know what we are missing ("snacktraps" always did the job for us). She has always been very comfy in the Mac Quest and continues to really enjoy strolling (even as a 41 inch tall, 36 pound, 2 1/2 year old). I love how it feels very sturdy but it is extremely lightweight and easy to open and close. The only less than ideal issues would be the small basket (but it is a small, light weight stroller...so what can you do?). Also, because it is so light, the stroller can tip if you hang too much on the handles (shopping bags, diaper bag). I just use a Fluerville Escape Pod and it fits perfectly in the basket (but I am a very light packer). After using the stroller for a couple weeks, I noticed that the canopy/hood was bent and mis-shapen. It did take quite a long time for Maclaren CS to get back to me via e-mail (they were very difficult to reach on the phone) but eventually they told me to drop the canopy in the mail and they had it back to me in a week (it was either reshaped or it was new...I couldn't tell) so I was very satisfied by the outcome. We love our Mac and I would not hesitate to buy another!
