I was checking out the Mosaic to see how much everyone else hated it and I was shocked to see such wonderful reviews. I hated this stroller. I used it for 4 months then sold it at a consignment sale and bought a PP.
Pros: I liked the Snugride car seat that came with my Mosaic travel system. It was safe and I liked the neutral gray/black/maroon colors. It was very compact and could be manuvered very easily through stores. The cup holder was sturdy. I only used this as a travel system - I sold it before my daughter graduated to the stroller seat.
The biggest con is that this stroller is a piece of junk. The tires are hard plastic and the tread worn off (unevenly) in the 4 short months I used it. The silly plastic footrest got a permanent fold in it and always had a little ridge it it. It squeeked and just felt cheap. Although it was compact it was very heavy for the size. It felt like it was made of a heavy metal (lead maybe?). My Pliko Lite runs circles around this junky stroller. I'm just upset that I started out with this stroller and wasted time and money on it.

Pros:
'Travel system' without the bulk, compact fold, narrow footprint, grows with baby.
Cons:
Design flaw allows the dirty wheels to touch canopy when folded - traditional umbrella drawbacks.

We've had this stroller (in Ionic) and heavily used it for 17 months and counting. I don't understand the complaints about durability, but I must admit that 2 months ago I completely dismantled the entire stroller, thoroughly washed & lubed it. Yes, the dirty wheels contact the canopy, which makes me frustrated, but is minor compared to all the things I love about it. I secretly laugh at all the other parents with huge travel system strollers getting stuck on clothing racks and struggling to get their ginormous strollers in and out of their cars . It fits between store clothing racks, takes an infant car seat (I used the SafeSeat/SnugRide32 with it, also recommended, btw), as well as many other lovely features that you can easily view on Graco's website or youTube. A personal favorite, the car seat clips in + has elastic tabs that go INTO the seatbelt groove (not the hinged plastic placers of other Graco strollers). It doesn't fold quite as compactly as the $20 umbrellas (although you don't have to stoop over it like you would for them either), yet it fits easily in our car trunk in addition to DH's toolboxes and various other stuff. It is not for jogging or off-roading (few umbrellas are). For my in-and-out of the car urban errand-running self, it's a perfect pick on my budget. The wheels do have visible wear, but still seem to have plenty of life in them (and we've taken it SO many places, even camping!) For about $100, this has been my only stroller for 17 months, with no plans to replace it. In the event that we do it in in the next 2 years, I would not hesitate to purchase another for a second child.

Pros:
It's compact folded and gets through narrow isles easily.
Cons:
How quickly the wheels and fabric are wearing.
|

I've had one for 11 months. I've used it since my baby was born, first with the carseat, but now as a regular stroller. I paid about $120. Overall, I don't like it much. The main reason is that it is just not wearing that well. I use it mainly to walk into and around the city and for running in and out of shops when i don't want to use a cart. The tire treads are very worn, and unevenly, and sometimes one of the front wheels won't turn because it isn't touching the ground even though the ground is even. It just scrapes. It is very creaky and noisy (I've sprayed oil on the wheels, but it doesn't work). It is a bit stiff to push and pretty difficult to turn. If I only have one hand for pushing I have to use my leg to help it turn, and the other leg to stop it turning. On some surfaces it feels like I'm trying to push a car.The fabric is torn in a couple of places. One tear is in the basket - I think it got pinched in the folding mechanism. The drink holder was useful, but it got lost on a plane! The good things are that my 11 month old seems comfortable in it and often sleeps in it. The 5-point harness is nice because you don't have to use the shoulder parts, so she can lean forward and hold onto the bar (that seems a bit flimsy, but it held my carseat just fine.) It is nice and narrow, so I can get through narrow isles. To me, the umbrella fold isn't that compact, but I don't have much to compare it to. Sometimes it's a bit difficult to open the latch on the side to get it to open when you only have one hand available. It is getting stiff to open now.The recline is very easy to operate, but you can't get to the small basket very easily when it is reclined. And one last thing - the brakes are easy to put on, but take a lot of scuffing of your shoes to release, and if you are wearing open toe shoes you need to release them with your hands.

Pros:
Lightweight, functional, & versatile
Cons:
When closed the wheels hit the canopy and get it dirty.
|
|
Since we had a Graco Snugride infant car seat given to us by a sister-in-law, I decided against getting the big travel system, plus I wanted something smaller and more versatile (preferably to be used from birth to toddler).I finally found the Mosaic Ionic (the one with light blue trim) stroller at BabyDepot and realized it was what I was looking for: lightweight, decent looking, compact, sturdy enough for my uses, and it was transitional (good for the infant carrier and good later for a regular stroller - an upgrade from the simple umbrella stroller). After using the stroller for roughly 8 months now I still think highly of it. It has successfully made it through several airplane trips and travels; I use if for my walks both outdoors and indoors (malls/shopping); it folds up compact in my trunk; I have even taken it on one moderate mountain hike (not recommended, but the stroller made it intact!); and it reclines almost all the way back, so that baby can sleep fairly comfortably. My biggest pet peeve with this stroller is a design issue that Graco could have fixed but didn't (I let them know about it, but they didn't seem that receptive). When the stroller is folded up for storage or taking it in the car (which is where ours primarily resides) the wheels touch the canopy and get it dirty. Graco could have fixed this very easily by either making the entire canopy black (it has either a light green or light blue band on the edge) or they could have used a plastic coating on the edging. An easy fix and I find it frustrating that their designers didn't fix it. I went ahead and pinned on my own plastic from a onesie package. It’s a little tackier than I like but it has worked pretty well. The other thing that may bug some people is the harness system. It is a 5-point; however it is in 5 pieces as well. It is a bit of a pain initially to get all the pieces together, but I've gotten used to it now. They probably did it this way so that if you have an older child, you don't have to use the arm harness, just the legs/waist harness part. Overall, I am still glad that I bought this stroller, especially since I really didn't need a second infant car seat anyway with a big travel system.Pros: lightweight, smaller size, compact enough for travel, sturdy, holds infant car seat and can also be used as a regular stroller later, baby can sleep in it when reclined, has a cup holder, and an adequate basket underneath.Cons: when folded canopy gets dirty from wheels, harness system can be challenging to connect, especially with a squirmy baby.FYI: Back when I bought it Summer 2007, BabyDepot had it in the light blue, but I found it, after the fact, in a pretty light green at Sears.

Pros:
Light and very compact when folded. Maneuverable.
Cons:
Storage. Two handed fold. DURABILITY!!
|
|
I know BB shuns Graco travel systems due to bulkiness, heaviness and lack of durability. I wanted a Graco travel system because I wanted a Graco carseat and the Peg Peregos strollers seemed overly expensive. All my friends have Graco and seem happy. I really like the Mosaic. I bought this travel system over the Quattro Tour Travel System because it is lightweight and VERY compact when you fold it up. We travel a lot in the car and so we are grateful for the extra trunk space. It is much more compact than the Graco Literider or Graco Metrolite. It is tall enough for my 6'4" husband and comfortable enough for me (5'5"). The colors are pretty cool (I don't like foo foo). It is much more maneuverable than the Quattro Tour (which I thought was very maneuverable in the store). I also liked the Mosaic over the Quattro Tour because with the Quattro tour I felt like I was pushing an SUV (it's big compared to the Mosaic). Since the Mosaic is lightweight, we won't need to buy a separate, lightweight umbrella stroller like we would have if we went with the Quattro Tour. The only problems I can think of with the Mosaic are: 1) that the undercarriage space is small so you will have a hard time putting a fully loaded diaper bag there, 2) there is only 1 cupholder for you and no storage trays for you or baby, 3) you will need two hands to fold/unfold the stroller and so you will have to put baby down. I must also confess that this is a recent purchase and so I can't say anything about durability yet. (2005)October 2007 Addendum:
Durability is terrible for this stroller! I am changing from an A rating to a B-. And I am so sorry for the people who purchased this stroller not knowing about the durability. My Mosaic squeaks now, the tires are worn, the fabric has rips in places and has a perpetual brown spot on the sun shade due to how it folds. To Graco's credit, the stroller HAS taken a lot of abuse and has held up reasonably well for my first child. I am pregnant again and have to get a duo-stroller, so this time I plan to go with a brand that is much more durable. This stroller is good for about one child and then probably needs to be thrown out... since two children means you may have to go to a duo stroller anyway, maybe that's not a bad thing. You may as well get a cheaper stroller for your first stroller than spend the big bucks and find you need to replace the nice stroller in 2 yrs due to a second munchkin on the way.
