Pros:
Great looking, nimble, versatile, with great visibility
Cons:
A little too wide to take in stores.

My husband and I spent a great deal of time researching bike trailers and then cheaped out and bought a "no frills" trailer at Target. Needless to say we hated it and returned it. Our search continued and we were very close to buying a Burley or a Wike. We liked the Burley, but it just didn't seem to have the features that would justify the asking price. We were intrigued by the Wike, but since you can only buy it online we were concerned about not being able to see it first. Then, we made one more stop at a local bike store and saw the Chariot Cougar 2 and we ordered one on the spot. There are so many things that make this trailer great. The feature that really sold us on this trailer is its versatility. You buy the Cougar chassis and then add on kits as you need them. We currently own the bike trailer kit and the strollng kit. Since I do not run unless I am chased , the jogging kit is not necessary for us, however I tried it out in the store and it seemed fantastic. There are also cross-country skiing and hiking kits available. The conversion between kits is a piece of cake. The bike trailer kit has a hitch that slides into an opening on the front of the chassis. The strolling wheels are ingenious in that you just turn them upside down in their holes to store them when not in use, then you just put them back into place when you are ready to use the chassis as a stroller again. We rode to our local farmer's market the other day. Before we left, we stored the wheels and attached the bike hitch and rode to the market, once there we just unhooked the trailer from the bike, put the wheels in place to stroll around the market and then stored them once again to ride back home. The second thing that impressed us about the Cougar is its suspension system. You can set the suspension on the trailer for the weight of your child and the type of activity for which you will be using the chassis. The ride for your child then becomes as comfortable as possible. We ride our bikes on some relatively rough terrain and this suspension keeps our little one from being jolted all over the place. My husband asked me to add this comment for the benefit of those that are familiar with automotive technology. This suspension is similar to a leaf-spring designThis trailer's folding mechanism is easy as can be and the wheels come off with the push of a button. Another plus is the way it looks. We bought the red and gray one and it sure is sharp looking. The interior is nice and comfy, with padded seats and a helmet relief pocket. We opted for the Cougar 2 to give our child plenty of room and to future proof in case we have another child. At this point we use this trailer for all of our outdoor needs. The sunscreen and rain cover make it so that we can take it out in most kinds of weather. If it weren't quite so wide I would probably use it for all purposes including shopping. However, despite its width, if you were in a pinch, this trailer maneuvers so well you really could use it anywhere. The only problem we had with this trailer was attaching it to my husband's bike. The pin that attaches the trailer to the hitch couldn't fit through its corresponding hole. We were able to remedy the problem by putting the pin in upside down and it was fine, albeit more difficult to attach. This seems to be a problem with many trailers as we alos encountered this issue with the cheap trailer we originally purchsed at Target.I love this trailer and would buy it again in a heart beat!
