Great Double All-Terrain Stroller, March 9, 2006

Pros: This stroller is EASY to push and turn; fine for a newborn.
Cons: The high price; no way to lock it when folded.

I paid $550 plus tax (because I bought it from my local running store) for my red BJCD. It's a great AT stroller. My toddler loves it and the 4 month old sleeps away in it. The other features I like are the separate sun canopies, the easy fold, high weight limit, and the smooth ride. Not to mention the 360 degree turning radius! With two wheels in front it has a very sturdy and safe feel. The fold is also simple and once folded it fits well in the trunk of my car. The downsides are that it's heavy (so are all the other double strollers, including mall crawlers and ATs, for that matter), it's pricey, and there's no lock once it's folded. The no-lock part should be easy to fix; a small bungee or webbing should do the trick, but for $550, BJ should have figured something out.

Overall this is a great stroller and Baby Jogger customer service is fabulous!

Hang on -- they're fixing it!, October 6, 2005

Pros: Steers well, fits through doors, VERY easy to fold.
Cons: The front wheels wobble - but they're fixing it!

I paid $550 (or so) for a blue BJCD. I had really high expectations because to me, that is a VERY expensive stroller. When I got it, all I had to do was put on the wheels. No biggie. I was excited to take it for a spin, only to find the front wheels wobble terribly. So I locked them, which helps, but is annoying when you want them to swivel in the store. To make a long story short, I called the company, they were aware of the problem, are fixing it with a new batch of these strollers, and are shipping me a new one in early November. I expect to LOVE it!

The only downside is the under-stroller basket is a bit small and a bit hard to access. But there are huge compartments on the back of each seat, so I'm ok!

This is very easy to fold, I love the dual reclining seats, and the dual sunshades. (Which is perhaps THE reason I bought this instead of an MBUD. That, and the price was lower!)

So, I expect to REALLY love my new one in November.

Really happy with my '07 BJCSD!, September 30, 2006

Pros: Pushes great, floating hoods, one hand recline, easy fold
Cons: Handle hits the ground in the fold, underbasket smallish

We're really enjoying our BJCSD. We got an '07 with the new floating hoods and one hand recline system without realizing that it was the new one. The floor model I looked at was an 06 and then an '07 came out of the box so we were pleasantly surprised! The floating hoods work well and I really like that there are two hoods instead of just one large one. The stroller pushes great, just kind of floats along. Since I've gotten spoiled with several other nicely gliding strollers, this is great. The recline is really nice, I plan on using it with a young baby when #3 comes along so it's nice that this stroller will last us a while. Oh, and the seat backs are nice a tall, which is great for my tall children.

The fold is something of a plus/minus for me. It's really easy and fast, which is great. I'm a bit picky though and prefer strollers to fold in such a way that the seat fabric and handle are not on the ground. With the BJ fold, both of those things are a given if you want to lay it on the ground before putting it away or in the car. That means that with this BJ I have to leave it open all the time, or immediately put it in the car if we're out with it. I can work with that, just wish it wasn't a consideration.

Overall, I highly recommend the BJSCD stroller. We paid $450 plus tax, which from a retail store makes me wonder if they gave us the '07 model by mistake. At the time, the '06 model was still going for $550 online, so I think this was a good price for the new version.

Easy fold mean you don't need to leave it at home., March 20, 2006

Pros: Cushy seats, Wonderful fold, Individual Canopies
Cons: Doesn't lock in folded position. Shallow basket.

I purchased this new off an ebay merchant for $465 including shipping. The fold makes this double AT a great only double stroller. It enables you to take a great walking stroller to the mall and on errands. It pushes effortlessly. The seats are well padded. The weight is similar to other strollers in this category and the ease and compactness (for a double AT) of the fold make it much easier to get in and out of the car. There are individual canopies--although it would be nice if they came down a little further. The adjustable handlebar is great as this is a tall stroller. Plenty of room for older children. My main complaints are the lack of locking mechanism while the stroller is folded. It would be nice if there was an adapter for a child seat. I do wish the basket underneath was deeper...I've had items bounce out. Also it seems like if you spend $550 (MSRP) you should be able to get a cup holder. Overall I'm very happy with it though...although in all honesty I wish there were more interesting colors - but the red is a very nice, deep shade.

Best Double stroller out there!, April 13, 2009

Pros: Tall seats, huge separate canopies, tons of storage, one hand fold, very stable
Cons: Heavy, handle strikes ground when folding

I had bought an Instep Safari double which is ultra lightweight and nice enough, but the features of the BJCCD blow it out of the water. It also compares favorably compared to my single Valco Trimode. I bought it because my DS is very tall for his age and barely fit in the Instep at 28 months. He has tons of room to grow in this one. There are separate canopies that are HUGE and seem to go down 270 degrees. They completely block out the sun. The stroller has 4 wheels so it is very stable and my toddler can climb in and out on his own without tipping it. Best of all, my older son does not have great access to my newborn because there is separation between the seats. The stroller pushes easily but is a bit on the hefty side compared to the lightweight doubles. I got the 2008 version in navy and silver for $375 on clearance and am more than pleased. I would highly recommend this over the Valco Double (canopies are not as great) or the Mountain Buggy double (seats not as nice and tall and too reclined). The BJ's seats can be set up really straight or totally reclined. This is very close to the perfect stroller!
