We did a lot of research on cribs and dressers, including reading the Baby Bargains book. We stumbled upon Romina after a return visit to a small baby shop--it had just been placed on display and we were told it had just entered the market in the US. We were impressed by the quality and construction of the pieces: solid wood, dovetail joints, childsafe drawers. No particle board or flimsy glides. The crib side raises and lowers smoothly with little noise. We ordered the Violini 3 drawer dresser and Adamo crib, both in natural. The dresser cost $699 and the crib cost $595--definitely in the high-end range, but on par or less expensive than Natart or Morigeau-Lepine. And the quality was as good or better. We felt that the dresser was actually pretty reasonable, given that it is a piece our son will have for many years (consider how much it costs for an adult dresser!). Everything arrived in 8 weeks, with no problems. We have been very pleased and would recommend Romina to anyone who wants to spend a bit more for their nursery furniture.

Crib was just under a thousand. Price of the whole nursery set came out a few hundred more than a similar Natart set.

My wife and I looked high and low for a good quality set of furniture for our nursery. My side of the family had a few wooodworkers in it, so I think I know what to look for in the construction details of furniture.

I think most manufacturers properly figured out that most couples focus on the crib. We saw a lot of pretty good cribs. Usually it was the other pieces in a collection that were a letdown. With the Romina, every piece was built to the same high standard.

Others were close - We debated back and forth between Romina and Natart. The Romina goods were just solid and had a simple but elegant look.

The pieces were delivered last week after about an 8 week wait, not bad. There were a few minor problems, but nothing to get too upset about.

* I sent back the chair for a replacement because of some misapplied finish. (Color missing in some small corners.)

* The dresser had some invisible clearcoat overspray. The color was fine, 90% of the top was perfectly smooth, but a back corner had a slightly rough texture because some extra clearcoat had gotten on there. Romina is sending a technician to repair it. (Probably polishing with a very very fine grade of sandpaper.) I think if I hadn't had such high expectations, I would have just lived with that because its invisible.

* Our crib was delivered with black-colored feet, but that's not the color of the furniture. The store has ordered the correct feet for us and apologized profusely.

The revelation that Romina built but didn't finish the Ragazzi furniture makes a lot of sense with what I found. The carpentry was perfect, the few issues we had were with the application of the finish.

So far we've been satisfied with the response from Romina about our few issues, and overall are really excited and happy with the purchase. The commitment to quality shows, but they are just getting used to doing their own finishing - in time I think everything will reach A+ status.
