We bought the Leksvik crib and a Leksvik 4 drawer dresser. We have many other items in our home from IKEA and have always been satisfied with their quality. The Leksvik crib was $149. The instructions were fairly clear - there were a couple times my husband and I had to debate about what they were actually trying to say, but by the end the crib was together correctly. It's a simple design, but it works for us.

We also bought a Leksvik 4 drawer dresser for $129 which we will use as a changing table. Also a great bargain. It took longer to set up than the crib, but for the price, it is good quality compared to other dressers that we saw at other stores listed for $200 - $400. The bottoms of the drawers are a step up from most cheap dressers - they aren't wood, but they aren't that weak cardboard either.

I would say if you don't mind the simple design and have an eye for detail when you are putting things together, the crib and dresser from IKEA are WELL worth it.

We bought the IKEA SNIGLAR crib in 2004 when we were expecting our second child. Our first child slept great in his crib and was not yet ready to move to a twin-sized bed, so we spent $89 on the SNIGLAR to keep him sleeping and happy.

It was money well-spent. The SNIGLAR was easy to assemble, disassemble and convert into a toddler-bed configuration over its first year of use. We are now using the SNIGLAR for our third child and it went together well and looks great even after being in storage for 18 months.

Because it lacks a lot of embellishment, the SNIGLAR has a smaller footprint than our fancy Italian crib. It is also lower to the ground, enabling shorter parents to comfortably lower and retrieve children from the crib mattress even without a drop side (and when your child inevitably reaches the climbing-out stage of development, s/he's got a shorter drop to the floor). The mattress has two height settings, although we've found that the higher mattress setting has such a limited lifespan that we have never bothered to use it. The crib converts to a toddler bed by removing the side rails and/or upper head and foot panels. We have also had luck doing an "IKEA mod" and removing only the front rail; the crib remained sturdy and stable with this small modification.

The head and foot board panels are made of MDF, but the side rails are solid wood. The mattress support is a solid piece of MDF with circular cut-outs on the bottom to allow the mattress to breathe. It is supported by wood rails that connect to the head and foot board panels. The design of the crib allows for a crib bumper, but it is difficult to use a crib skirt with this model.

The crib fits a standard crib mattress - we have used both a Sealy spring mattress and a foam mattress also from IKEA.

You can easily fit three low SLUGIS bins underneath the crib to store extra crib linens or clothing.
