we were very attracted to the 5000 series because of the simple but elegant lines. First of all, we only ordered the crib because we thought the case goods (dressers, armoires, etc) were very inferior in quality. It's been some time but I remember the bottoms of the drawers being very flemsy, and the sides being very cheap mdf or plywood of some sort. The only solid pieces were the drawer fronts. The crib came in right within the promised time (I think 6 weeks). When we went to pick it up at our local store, they had 3 of the same cribs. There were very little packaging within the boxes that all the pieces scratched each other up. The store let us mix the 3 boxes and we chose the least damaged pieces and took it home. After assemblying it, we just decided that it was ridiculous that we still had a scratched up NEW furniture which we paid close to $900. We simply took it back to the store and asked for a refund.

We were hesitant at first to purchase a Morigeau, based on what we read in the book. It only scored a B+, based on 3 flaws: shipping delays, chipped paint, and the very loud noise made when lifting up the side and clicking into place. We spotted a Morigeau at Great Beginnings in Gaithersburg, MD, (from the 1900 series) that was on sale, as is. It looked perfect to us (just one or two barely noticeable scratches), and it was already in-stock. No waiting! And it was not painted (came in oak), so no chipping worries. and the salesguy showed us the trick to clicking the side into place without making a peep (you just press your body against the rail the same way you do when lowering the side. works like a charm!). So none of the issues in the book affected our crib. We paid $449 for the crib that was originally priced at $700 (includes the drawer), plus $75 for delivery and set-up. The delivery people were awesome, too. They showed up early and were in and out in 15 minutes. The crib is lovely, and all ready for our baby's arrival in 8 weeks!

We purchased several pieces of Morigeau's 6200 series in the Latte painted finish. We had done our research, and everything (Baby Bargains 6th ed., Morigeau's website, salesperson, Morigeau's use and care instructions included with our purchase) indicated that the furniture would be solid hardwood furniture. Upon delivery, we were shocked that the $1300 armoire was almost entirely built of MDF. On the nightstand and shelves, only the moulding and internal bracing was hardwood. The case, top, and drawer fronts were all MDF. On the armoire, the case and top of the lower drawer section were hardwood, presumably to be able to support the massive weight of the MDF armoire top. One drawer front on the lower section was wood, the other two MDF.Morigeau used the same hardware as if the furniture were built of regular wood, meaning that over time, the screw holes would likely strip out the MDF and the furniture would become unstable. When we complained, Morigeau claimed that they have to use MDF to get a good paint finish. Well, they failed at that too. The finish was thin-you could see bare wood in places- and chipped. Luckily, the retailer (and Visa, for that matter) agreed that this was not the quality of furniture we had special ordered, and fully refunded our money. If you have your heart set on Morigeau, I would suggest buying only the wood finishes. That was the most expensive particle board furniture I've ever seen.

I bought the 1900 series. The crib and the changing table with shelf were floor samples and both were sold for $1500. The crib rail is quite difficult to lower, I'm constantly fighting with it. And when you raise it, there is quite a loud noise. I would go with the crib that has the railing that does not lower. This crib drives me nuts!

We purchased a crib and dresser/changing table from the 4500 series. I couldn't be more pleased. The quality is among the best I've seen. I am very impressed with the finish of the wood, the style and structure. I also appreciate the design of the hardware being hidden. The drawers slide out eaisly and are very roomy. Also, my order arrived within four weeks. Would definetly buy again even at the price I paid. The quality is well worth the price tag! A+ to Morigeau
