I ordered the Legacy lifetime crib and other pieces for a complete nursery set. It has now been more than 6 months since my order was placed and I still have at least 1 more month before I will receive the remaining pieces of my order, the most important being the crib. I was told by the store, that I placed the order through, that there has been a significant manufacturing delay in the Bergen County Hardwood collection. (mind you when I placed the order I was told 6-8 weeks)

When I called Child Craft to confirm they would not reveal any information without a customer id (of which only the store which I purchased this through knows). I find their customer service to be very poor as the individual I spoke with was not able to even confirm if they had significant manufacturing issues with their overseas facility based on the product I ordered. By the time I get this crib my child will be walking & in a toddler bed! This is ridiculous!

We bought the Legacy Bergen County Lifetime Crib in Cherry Pine and the matching dressing station (without hutch). We paid $449 for the crib, $499 for the dressing station, and paid $65 for delivery AND SET UP!

After visiting BRU and spending lots of time online looking at cribs and baby furniture, I took a trip to a locally-owned, mom-and-pop kids' furniture store about 35 miles away. They had an amazing display in their showroom. I looked at Baby Dream, Pali, Bassett, and Legacy furniture. I expected to go with a Baby Dream set, but after seeing the Legacy pieces in the store I was really impressed. The Cherry finish is absolutely beautiful and the pieces were so solid. I loved that there were no moving parts on the crib and I think it will make a beautiful full bed when the time comes to convert.

My experience was made infinitely more enjoyable by the service at the store (Kids' World in Utica, NY). The couple who own the place are knowledgeable, caring and accommodating. They had the pieces I wanted in stock and we were able to arrange delivery on the date of my choosing. Not only that, they set up the crib for us, placed the crib and dressing station exactly where we wanted, and helped us move 2 more pieces into the nursery from our daughter's room.

I think that my favorable impression of Legacy is certainly colored by how smoothly everything went, thanks to Kids' World. If we had gone with a (slightly) less expensive set from BRU, we would have paid $125 for delivery with no set-up.

But, truly, the set is GORGEOUS and I'm thrilled that we chose Legacy.

We bought the Farmhouse crib with drawer and Farmhouse double dresser and bookcase in the Pine Cone finish back in 2006 for our first baby. We absolutely love it! We have gotten so many compliments on how good her bedroom furniture looks. The finish is very rich and shows the wood grain so nicely. The crib is made of solid wood and is very sturdy. We opted for the conventional crib instead of the convertible because we loved the simple design and the price..$349!. It converts to a toddler bed. We purchased the toddler guard rail to convert it later (toddler rail was $59). The only minor drawback would be the crib drawer, it is not made to hold much more than sheets and blankets but it works! I think the dresser and bookcase are made of both solid wood and veneers. The construction seems really solid, drawers are big (they have the dovetail). The bookcase is SO roomy, we bought Pottery Barn Sabrina baskets to go on the shelves, it looks great and is so practical to store all the toys etc, and still have room for books and stuffed animals (how many stuffed animals can one child have?!this is crazy). We put a changing pad on the dresser and use it as the changer. I wish now that we would have bought the dressing kit that is offered to go on top, I think it would be safer. Now that my daughter is moving more sometimes the pad shifts around so I would recommend to buy the dressing kit. The dresser offers plenty of room for all her clothes. I love the smaller drawers on top, perfect for socks and smaller items that would get lost in the large bottom drawers. The bottom line is that we've had the furniture for a year and it has held up to our expectations.

Cons: color choice

I got the Bergen county crib from a local store here and have been pleased with it since the day I got it. It actually only took me 2 weeks to get the crib and not the 4-6 weeks I was told but I did have a friend that her crib took 4 weeks. It almost seems like it took longer to put it together than it did to receive it. (what cribs are easy to put together?) Seriously it wasn't bad to put together. For a solid wood crib there is nothing out there that can match its quality or price. The only thing I wish is that some of their cribs had more color choices.

A good value; excellent customer service, January 8, 2007

Pros: Responsive customer service
Cons: Assembly requires patience

I recently purchased a $250 Legacy changing table. While assembling the item and attempting to tighten the screws to make two parts flush, the table cracked. I called customer service on 1/3/07 and inquired about purchasing replacement parts. Since the product was not damaged when I brought it home, I figured it was my responsibility to pay for the parts. However, the customer service rep could not have been nicer or more understanding. She recorded the model number and the specific parts that needed replacement. I received the parts via UPS within 4 business days and I didn't pay a penny.
