Surprisingly sturdy and well-made crib for CHEAP!, May 31, 2006
Reviewer: Anonymous

Pros: SOLID beech wood construction at a VERY REASONABLE price
Cons: Internet assembly directions were only for one crib model

I purchased the Cara Mia TAMMY 3-in-1 convertible crib (Royalty collection) from the Lullaby Lane warehouse sale for $299 (with regular price at $450). This crib is a steal even at $450, considering what I was prepared to pay for a Pali crib.

To be fair, the "Forever Carmen" crib by Pali that I was looking at for about $600 ranks slightly higher on the style points, but I was mainly looking at the Pali cribs because of the sturdiness and the solid wood construction. I had compared the Pali cribs to the Babi Italia/ISSI line at Babies R Us, and none of them passed the "what if my baby decides to teethe on the railing" test (easily dentable wood). The one crib that wasn't easily dentable (Babi Italia, Ceriana Lifestyle Crib, $499) has a ton of glossy varnish on it to keep it dent-free, and I was only able to see it after asking a sales rep to move a mobile that had been hanging on the wood slats on the back of the crib and the varnish had started to peel away.

Back to the Cara Mia Tammy Crib, if you're looking for a sturdy, well-built convertible crib for not a lot of money, I highly recommend this crib. Granted, Cara Mia doesn't have a whole lot to choose from, but I think the one that I purchased is simple and will go well with any nursery. Use the extra money you save to buy some really cool crib bedding!!

As far as the one con that I have listed, because I had purchased the crib at a warehouse sale, I didn't have the directions, so I had to look for them on the website. My father-in-law and husband were able to put it together without directions in about an hour, so I guess it wasn't that difficult?
