Defective chair but Little Castle not willing to refund our money, April 10, 2009

Pros: fabric is a nice color
Cons: poor service from LC; poor craftsmanship; delivered unusable

We ordered the Buckingham glider and matching ottoman from Little Castle (LC). We waited more than 5 months (!) for delivery because of three back order delays--each of which we were never informed about until the day of supposed delivery. The chair was delivered defective: when one sat on the chair it leaned so far forward that the base came off the ground. Furthermore, the cloth piping on the bottom of the chair was coming off the chair. After 2 more weeks of waiting, LC sent a company repair man, who declared the chair not fixable. In his casual conversations with us, he mentioned that LC has adopted a new policy of not inspecting some its products as they leave the factory, because this is much cheaper and they are willing to live with the occasional unhappy customer. We requested a refund. LC refused to give us one, saying that they wanted to make us another chair which we would have to wait at least 6 more weeks for. Needless to say, with our baby 8 weeks old at that point and no evidence of quality construction, we were not happy with this offer. We have been round and round with LC management in California, and they have been nothing but rude to us. In short, working with Little Castle has been an awful experience.

Pros: Extremely Comfortable and Chic
Cons: Broken Spring Within A Year

I bought a very expensive ($1,400) Cottage SS Glider from Wren and Divine (a local store here in McLean, VA) several months before my daughter was born in June of '08. We absolutely loved the chair and used it everyday to nurse and read stories, etc. The chair was used in a normal fashion and was never misused. Anyway, in about June of '09, I noticed that it was feeling weird to sit in the chair and investigated what was going on. Turns out one of the springs had broken and was poking out the bottom of the chair. I was so disappointed given the fact that I had only used the chair for just over a year and had paid top dollar for it. Anyway, I called Wren and Divine and inquired whether they or Little Castle would pay to have the chair repaired. As you can guess, the answer was "no". Wren and Divine says that Little Castle is unwilling to repair the chair because the 1 year warranty had expired at the time I reported the defect. I will NEVER buy another Little Castle product again. The chair should not have broken at all and certainly not a year after I had bought it. Very poor quality. And, the fact that Little Castle is unwilling to take responsibility for their defective product is extremely disappointing. Quite honestly, I think the way that the chair broke poses a safety hazard as a jagged piece of broken metal is now poking out of the bottom of the chair and could injure anyone who touches it.

Pros: wouldn't know, never got my chair
Cons: may wait until way past your due date to get your chair

I decided to order my upholstered chair from Little Castle because it's a local company and the reviews seem to be positive. I paid cash up front 4 weeks ago and was told it will take 5 weeks to deliver, but because I am local it should be faster. when I called to find ETA a month after payment and hearing nothing from the retailer, I was told that the fabric I ordered in (the model and fabric combo is all over the internet so it's definitely one of the popular fabrics) was not going to be availble for some time so there is no delivery date on my chair since they haven't started production, possibly taking another 5 weeks or more (the OR MORE is the kicker). My question is why didn't Little Castle notify my retailer of the fabric backorder when the order was placed 4 weeks ago? At this rate I will not be getting a glider even after delivery.

Pros: Tall back, comfortable, quiet
Cons: Heavy to move, can't try it at the store

We bought the Little Castle upholstered glider and matching ottoman from Target. With shipping, the cost came to around $600 ($400 w/o shipping). The chair is very nice and comfortable. It was easy to assemble and took my husband less than 15 minutes to put together. The ottoman glides back and forth and the chair goes back and forth and swivels around. Our favorite aspect is this chair has a higher back than most upholstered chairs so you can rest your head on it while sitting in it (which makes napping for mom easier, too!). We opted for the ticking stripe pattern in sage green, which is more green that it looks on the Target website where it looks more grey-green. We are very pleased with this glider and ottoman's size, color and comfort level and think it will be worth every penny we spent. My DH used a Phillips head screwdriver to assemble - no other tools needed. I bought it sight unseen since our Target does not carry it in store, but I'm very pleased.

Pros: Super Soft, like sitting on a cloud
Cons: a little price-y, but worth the $$$ for a custom chair

I tried this chair at a few stores and fell in love. I know it will be comfortable to nurse in this chair. We got the recliner in a neutral fabric so we could utilize the chair in another room after we're done using it in the nursery. I LOVE IT!!!
