Pros:
looks sturdy
Cons:
warning label is painted on the wrong side of back board. poor quality control
|
|
I bought this Sophia crib made by Sorelle at Buy Buy Baby two weeks ago. We picked the espresso color because buybuybaby has it in stock. However, after we received the crib and assemble it last weekend, we found the warning label is painted on the front side of the backboard. This crib now really looks stupid. We were very disappointed with the company about their quality control. I called buybuybaby right away. After they consulted Sorelle, we were told that the company knew about this problem! The whole line of cribs has the warning label painted on the wrong side. Yet they are still selling them. And it will take another 4-8 weeks for me to possibly get a replacement backboard. I am really disappointed with the Sorelle company. If they knew about the problem, how could they put them on the market?! They just created headache for the customer and can not solve the problem promptly. Be careful when you want to buy a crib from Sorelle.

We purchased the Julie Crib by C&T from Baby Depot in 2004. I love this Crib. It is a very sturdy crib with hidden parts and a storage drawer. Later it can convert to a day bed.

Pros:
great value, hidden hardware, attractive crib
Cons:
Manufacturer modified mattress support with bad result
|
|
I bought a Sorelle Rita Bella crib in January '05 partly based on a high rating for the company in Baby Bargains. I did lots of comparing, and found that this crib (which I got for $199) was an amazing value, an attractive crib, and I really liked the idea of hidden hardware. When I got the crib home we had a very hard time getting it together (My husband and I are relatively adept at assembling things.) The drop side wouldn't go up and down and finally derailed and gouged the wood. I talked to the retailer and returned the crib and picked up a new one. We had the same difficulty assembling this new one, but got it to work somewhat, and we decided that maybe it wasn't such a good value, but we'd just deal with it. A few months later (just after the birth of our son) we realized the drop side wouldn't stay up--one side or the other would unlatch, and when you tried to fix it, the bottom of the dropside would kick out--so either your baby would be able to push the side down, or would fall out between the mattress and the side. Either result is too scary for words. I called the retailer I bought it from (http://www.bunksnst uff.com/ excellent customer service, by the way) and they've been working for the past month to find a solution. They finally called their Sorelle rep in. I happened to call the retailer to follow up today while the rep was there, and the rep said he'd send out a whole new crib. The retailer called me later today and explained the problem as told to him by the rep:Sorelle modified the crib at one point, Rita Bella was originally made with a metal mattress support, and they decided to switch to a wooden one which, from my experience, was hard to get in place, and seemed a bit rickety and apparently is the source of my, and probably other people's problems. They have since gone back to using the metal one which is what is being shipped to me. He did say that from his perspective selling this product, his dealings with Sorelle have been sub-par, they have an excellent product (when they don't mess with a good thing!) but their customer service is horrible. Long story short: If you do buy a Rita Bella, be sure the mattress support is metal, not wood...

We bought a Sorelle "Cottage" convertible 4-in-1 crib in French White from a small boutique store locally. It happened to be a floor model, but it was in *perfect* condition, and since it was their last crib in the store, we got a $100 discount and a free Million Dollar Baby mattress. I believe we paid $299. The wood is solid. I've read that it's made of pine, but the wood this crib is made with doesn't mark at all. Our daughter is 9 months now, has been teething for 4 months, and there aren't any teeth marks. The finish is gorgeous. The French White is a beautiful, luminous, creamy white colour. If you buy this particular crib, just know that because of the design, it's harder to attach any crib soothers and mobiles. It can be done, but it has to be somewhat rigged (safely, of course.) It has a wooden slat support system that we have not had any problems or issues with. It is perfectly sturdy and solid. My only complaint is that there isn't a very bottom mattress setting. Not a huge deal. As it is on the bottom setting now, you can't use the crib skirt, because it wouldn't show. Again, not a big deal. The boutique owner told me not to bother buying Sorelle's bed rails. She said you can buy regular bed rails for a fraction of the price. Good to know. Bottom line: Love this crib. It's beautiful, so sturdy it doesn't move even 1/4" inch, heavy and looks like it will last through college!

Pros:
Lots of features for the price.
Cons:
Side rail is VERY noisy and doesn't always, "click" well.

I got the Sorelle Lana crib based on positive reviews on the baby bargains forum (funny, that now there are so many negative reviews). I admit, we bought it sight unseen, but had no choice, since we live in a rural area that doesn't carry this brand. We paid about $230 shipped (I think). We were supposed to get the wooden slats, but ended up with the metal spring support. The crib is rather crude looking, not as elegant and nicely finished as a simmons we had borrowed from a friend (see my review of the simmons crib), BUT it is nice that this crib has an storage drawer underneath (although I wish they would have put a wood board to cover the top, so wasn't open directly to the mattress springs... gets dusty) and capability to be a toddler bed. The only problem is the toddler bed looks like it will be kind of high up from the floor, so I do not know how well it will work when it is time for our son to transition to the toddler bed, esp since he is on the petite side. The most annoying part of this crib is that the side rail that goes up and down is VERY noisy, it makes the entire crib shake and you have to be very careful to double check that it is latched when you lift up the rail, there have been times, where it didn't seem to catch on one side and the rail could have slid back down to the lowered position, posing as a falling risk for a toddler. We got the natural color, which is very nice, it also comes with casters (which my DH had some difficulty fitting into the holes), and in my opinion this crib is VERY heavy. Overall, this crib is OK for the amt of $ we paid, but I don't think I would recommend it to anyone, since I have my own issues with it and it seems others have had a lot of CS and QC problems with it. There are better cribs out there. BTW, this crib is made in Latvia, I had orginally thought it would be an italian made crib, so it caught me off guard when we recieved it. Maybe that is why the quality isn't as good.
