Pros:
There is still no glider on the market as good as dutailier.
Cons:
The manufacturing process is horrible-it took 3 replacements to finally have a decent glider!!!

After doing exhaustive research on the best rocker glider out there, we decided to go with Dutailier because of the glowing reviews from other websites and the Baby Bargains book. We custom ordered our glider/rocker/recliner and even splurged on the higher quality cushions, to bring home 12 weeks later, a lemon. The cushions were fine, it's the wood frame and base that were something not even Walmart would display. The wood was spray painted with the dark cherry stain we picked, but there were areas where the stain hadn't been sprayed. The base had a screw that completely poked thru, creating a very sharp edge on the surface, and the side of the chair had a noticable splinter that was purposely covered and sprayed over, not to mention one of the bolts to secure the glider to the base was loose....so we figured it was a fluke and sent it back to be replaced.....8 weeks later we bring home a new chair only to find the same issues with the stain on the top half of the chair and the base doesn't attach properly because the bolts that were pre-drilled didn't line up....again returned for ANOTHER chair another 8 weeks later....this time the chair had two unfinished areas where the stain wasn't properly applied, but we were so tired of sending it back we decided to keep it. I won't even get started about the cushions not being washable! We paid $1000 for a chair that's quality is worth much less. With Dutailier, you no longer get what you pay for.

Pros:
The glider looks nice and seems to be working properly
Cons:
Had to wait 10 weeks and got grease stained cushions
|
|
At this point I am learning to roll with the punches on baby furniture. Even though we have spent way more on our nursery than our own bedroom, I have found that price does not guarantee quality. I bought the wooden rocker and ottoman with microfiber cushions. I got all the added features- recline, nursing stool, everything, so altogether the set cost me about $1000. It took 10 weeks to finally come in and we brought it home only to open it up and find oil or grease stains all over the cushions. The seat cushion can be turned over (although still not acceptable) but the back cushion can only be put on one way and th stains are on the front. These cushions were wrapped in doubled plastic, so the stains had to be on there before they were wrapped in plastic. I am so dissapointed in Dutalier quality control. I will be calling for replacement cushions.

Pros:
NONE
Cons:
Furniture was never delivered
|
|
My husband and I ordered a Chloe convertible crib, full bed conversion set and dresser and were told the delivery time would be 4-6 weeks. Now, 8 weeks later we are being told that the crib will not be delivered for another 7 to 10 weeks -- well after my estimated delivery date. How does it take 15-18 weeks to assemble a crib and dresser?!The reason we went with Dutalier was because of their excellent reputation - I would warn others never to make that same mistake.

Pros:
comfortable chair; microfiber cleans up well
Cons:
cushions not machine washable

We purchased glider 11789 and the matching ottoman right before the birth of our second child. I did not have a comfortable place to nurse with the first one and I must say, a glider was well worth the money. I could nurse the baby in the chair and sleep at the same time. I have never used the multiposition feature on this model but I love the recline feature and would definitely recommend getting a chair that reclines for those late-night feedings. This model also comes with what they call “comfort plus cushions, which I recommend as well. I did not find Dutailiers without comfort-plus cushions to be very comfortable, even the “oversized chairs that look like they would be comfortable were not.My last comment is about the fabric. I do not understand why a company that markets its chairs as appropriate for use in a nursery would not make machine-washable cushions. But, I got the chair in a neutral microfiber and have had no problem cleaning the chair with Resolve carpet cleaner (my daughter took a blue ball point pen to the ottoman a month after we got it and the only thing I had on hand was Resolve. It worked incredibly well; got all of the ink out. Resolve has also worked to remove spit up etc. on the ottoman as well). I would definitely go with microfiber if you are going to use this chair in a nursery.I got the regular ottoman (not the nursing one) and it has worked fine. If you are getting a glider, get an ottoman or some sort of footrest, it makes a difference. As for price, we got a deal. It was less than $600 for the chair and the ottoman.

We bought our Dutailier glider based on good reviews we'd heard about them. What a disappointment! We got the model # 911 120 003 00000 deluxe glider with recline and the ottoman for $800. We used it for nursing and rocking our first baby. We liked the glider initially but in 6 months time the glider started to creak and groan whenever we'd use it--needless to say it was tough putting our baby to sleep with the noise! We checked and tightened the screws but the problem was in the joints where the spindles of the glider where glued to the frame--there was nothing we could do about it.Also, the cushions can't be washed--they have to be professionally cleaned. Very inconvenient specially when the glider is marketed for use in nurseries--where spit ups, pee and poop are everyday fare. We also found the seat cushion to be too hot. Often it got very uncomfortable sitting in the glider because my back and legs which where in contact with the cushion would sweat a lot while the rest of my body was cold! I contacted Dutailier about these issues but apart from being told that my comments had been forwarded to the department concerned, I have not heard anything else from them. For the price we paid, I was expecting better quality and customer service. We're very disappointed.
