Pros:
Beautiful and built to last.
Cons:
Very hard to lower the crib side.
|
|
I bought the 1900 series. The crib and the changing table with shelf were floor samples and both were sold for $1500. The crib rail is quite difficult to lower, I'm constantly fighting with it. And when you raise it, there is quite a loud noise. I would go with the crib that has the railing that does not lower. This crib drives me nuts!

Pros:
quality
Cons:
wait time and concerns about inadequate packaging/shipping
|
|
In the showroom, this furniture is absolutely gorgeous. It is truly beautiful REAL furniture that is sturdy and looks to last. BUT, it's been 13 weeks since I've ordered this and was told 2 weeks ago that the furniture would arrive two weeks later than initially quoted. I just received yet another notice that there is further delay. So, anticipated time for shipment is a full FOUR months after my initial order. Also, there have been many complaints about poor packaging, allowing for damage during shipping. Keeping my fingers crossed that things will arrive undamaged. When this furniture finally arrives, I will update my posting.

Pros:
quality, finish
Cons:

We purchased a crib and dresser/changing table from the 4500 series. I couldn't be more pleased. The quality is among the best I've seen. I am very impressed with the finish of the wood, the style and structure. I also appreciate the design of the hardware being hidden. The drawers slide out eaisly and are very roomy. Also, my order arrived within four weeks. Would definetly buy again even at the price I paid. The quality is well worth the price tag! A+ to Morigeau

We ordered a crib, dresser with changing table top, and armoire in the 8000 series from Toys R Us - totalling around $2000. I won't go into all the intricacies of the problems we had (still too mad!), but I would NEVER recommend this company or their product. We did our homework and ordered super-early. We also figured that some of the problems in Baby Bargains would be less for us since Morigeau-Lepine is a local company (they are based in a suburb of Montreal). The dresser arrived in 8 weeks - broken. TRU kindly sent it back and reordered it. The crib (and 2nd dresser) finally arrived when I was in my 40th week of pregnancy (this was maybe 4 months+ after we'd ordered everything originally)- good thing I was late. When we went to inspect them we found out that the armoire had been cancelled many weeks prior, by TRU or Morigeau we never knew, and noone thought to tell us. The 2nd dresser- which ended up coming from another TRU, and not directly from Morigeau, also arrived broken. We took it anyway and my husband repaired it because we had no time to order another matching set of furniture.I will admit that it is unclear whether some of the problems were actually due to TRU. To their credit, though, our TRU local employees fell all over themselves to help us and we were given a $200 gift card in addition to the refund for the cancelled armoire. We eventually bought a neutral-looking armoire at Ikea since we had no time. Why did we chose this furniture in the 1st place? We liked the clean lines and that we would be able to buy more adult furniture to match what we already had; a twin bed, and desk for our child as he grows. Not something that's likely to happen now.As others have said the crib side rail is noisy and the construction is flimsy - only one of the dresser's 4 drawers consistently works properly. We also had to buy new casters for the crib at Home Depot since they were broken as well. The only plus besides the furniture is pretty to look at? The dresser/changing table is quite high and we (as tall people) don't have to strain our backs using it.If our entire Morigeau situation and ordering problems hadn't come to a head during Quebec's construction holiday (during which most factories close) I would have driven to their plant and made a spectacle of myself. So much for old world craftsmanship and supporting Quebec's timber industry. I wouldn't touch this company with a ten foot pole. As an aside...we were told by TRU that they will no longer be carrying Morigeau since they had SO many problems with them, their product, and customer complaints.Again, my advice ... anything, and any company, has to be better than this.

Pros:
stylish
Cons:
case goods not good quality, not secure packaging
|
|
we were very attracted to the 5000 series because of the simple but elegant lines. First of all, we only ordered the crib because we thought the case goods (dressers, armoires, etc) were very inferior in quality. It's been some time but I remember the bottoms of the drawers being very flemsy, and the sides being very cheap mdf or plywood of some sort. The only solid pieces were the drawer fronts. The crib came in right within the promised time (I think 6 weeks). When we went to pick it up at our local store, they had 3 of the same cribs. There were very little packaging within the boxes that all the pieces scratched each other up. The store let us mix the 3 boxes and we chose the least damaged pieces and took it home. After assemblying it, we just decided that it was ridiculous that we still had a scratched up NEW furniture which we paid close to $900. We simply took it back to the store and asked for a refund.
