Beautiful crib especially for the value, November 13, 2006

Pros: easy to build, great customer service
Cons: questionable durability over time

We just finished putting together the Jardine Capri Single Crib (in Antique Walnut). We purchased it from Babies R Us for $199. When we first tried to assemble it, we realized that there were multiple pieces missing. I suspect that the crib had been returned and BRU just sent it back out without checking. Instead of returning it, I emailed customer service. Exactly 2 weeks later, I had my missing pieces (some were big so 2 weeks isn't bad). The crib is VERY easy to build. My husband and I are NOT handy and we figured it out quickly and easily. The crib looks great and feels secure. I do wonder about it's durability over time since it is a dropside with plastic parts. Also, the wood looks good, but I'm not sure that will last. Overall, I am VERY pleased with the crib. The baby is not here yet, so I'll let you know if it can stand an active baby.

Love the glider & ottoman! Great price & super comfy, April 1, 2006

Pros: Very comfortable, affordable, & looks great
Cons: Material shows wear quickly, makes creaky noise

Although the baby bargain book gave the Jardine line of gliders a very low rating, we bought one anyway b/c of the price & the comfort. For $350 at Babies R Us, we got both the rocker & the ottoman. We have the sage Gingham wing back chair.

I've nursed my 4 month old almost every feeding on this chair. And, I have been known to fall asleep at those 2 am feedings. Luckily, the wing back provides a great place to rest my head in the middle of the night. With the boppy & the chair arms on the side, my baby is also safe if I do happen to fall asleep (which I try to avoid, obviously). I don't know what I would've done with a wooden chair, which doesn't seem nearly as comfortable.

I'm not one to write reviews, but since this got a very low grade in one of the books, I didn't want parents to be put off just because of the book. I absolutely love our rocker & ottoman. The fabric isn't super high quality, but I figure I can just reupholster it if I'm really that attached to it down the road.

Jardine Antique Walnut Changing Table, October 18, 2006

Overall Grade   4.00/10  (4)

Pros: None
Cons: Terrible quality, broken parts

Now I understand why BabyBargains gave the Jardine furniture an F. My husband and I purchased this changing table for our nursery from BRU and there must have been about 50 parts with 4 of them broken. Plus, the stain on the furniture was not consistent and is made mostly of cheap particle board. I contacted Jardine to get replacement parts which I should have received this week. I called again today to check the status of these parts and they said that it will be another 2 weeks. So much for having the nursery done before our son gets here.

Jardine Windsor crib quality surprised me., August 15, 2006

Pros: Crib is sturdy, solid wood and has spring base for mattress
Cons: Drop side doesn't click back in at the top automatically.

We bought the second cheapest crib from Babies R Us, $199. I was actually surprised at the quality of the Jardine crib though. It's solid wood and was VERY easy to put together, very clear instructions.

The only bad thing is the drop side doesn't click back in the grooves when you lift it up. We have to hold it up and pull at the bottom to get it to go into the little slots. It's annoying, but not enough to take it apart and drag it all the way back to the store. It hasn't been used yet, so it may even need to be "broken in"

Very good for the money, has really stood the test of time, August 9, 2005

Pros: Price, ease of assembly, paint, convertible feature
Cons: uh, nothing I can think of

We bought the Jardine "Wicker" collection crib in fall 2002 for our first child. I had researched and researched and wanted only the best for our daughter. But my inlaws had offered to buy the crib so I couldn't justify making them pay $750 for the Morigeau crib I really wanted... At the time Jardine was too new on the market to have a full review by the Fields in Baby Bargains' 4th edition. Since the Jardines werecorporately related to Cosco/Dorel, they scared me. But I loved the style and every time we were in BRU and "shook" all the cribs in the store, the Jardines consistantly seem to be the most solid. Other more highly rated models wobbled and seemed unstable. But every single Jardine crib seemed solid as a rock. So we decided I was probably overthinking things and bought the Jardine.

DD slept in it for two years. I held up beautifully, and shows no wear and tear AT ALL! Not one nick in the paint, not one loose bolt, nothing. And she wasn't exactly an easy baby! Last night DH screwed it back together for DD#2, due this fall. It still looks great and feels as solid as it did the day we bought it.

I have no complaints wahtsoever about this crib. I've had other friends need to replace pricier cribs when they prepared for #2, so I'm thrilled with my purchase.
