Good looking crib, terrible rail operation, September 5, 2008

Pros: Attractive, sturdy
Cons: Rail operation is very loud and clunky. Drawer is cheaply made and just collects dust.

We purchased a Bonavita Peyton crib for our nursery. It is a nice looking crib, seems sturdy, and was easy to put together. The drawer is totally cheap and is a dust collector, we took it off before our baby was even born. My big complaint is the side rail. The mechanism to click it into the up position is very clumsy and loud. It doesn't matter how careful I am, it makes a clunking noise on one side or the other. I have a light sleeping baby who takes a long time to get settled. It is maddening when the stupid side rail wakes her up when I've finally gotten her down. Also, it doesn't disengage smoothly when you try to put it down. I spent a little more for this crib expecting a higher quality product.

Pros: Very sturdy and solid
Cons: none

I purchased the Bonavita Sheffield crib and changing table/dresser for $1200 (600 apiece). I love this, I know there is cheaper stuff out there but the crib is convertible and is something I wouldn't mind using for years. It really seems like quality.... sturdy and solid everywhere. I would recommend this brand to anyone, There have been no problems. Attaching bumpers are a challenge but not a problem if you are creative, ditto for a mobile.

Pros: the store i bought if from gave me a full refund
Cons: the dropside was defective

I had a Bonavita Hudson crib. I'm pretty handy, put it together and the dropside came out. i figured maybe i hadn't assembled quite right, so paid a fee for the store i bought it from to come a do an assembly. never felt quite right about it and one day i noticed it had become totally lopsided and the dropside was not secure at all. there was no obvious "defect" to me. everthing seemed to be intact -- just a horrible design flaw. the store i bought if from took it back (they seemed familiar with the problem). i'm shocked that this brand has such good reviews (must have been why i chose it in the first place). i know it's hard to choose a crib, but i'd really steer away from this brand, or at minimum this model.

Pinehurst cribs great but dresser & armoire mediocre, July 7, 2007

Pros: sturdy cribs, nice looking
Cons: problems with cracked panels & drawer doesn't open smoothly

I was surprised to see so much good feedback after our experience with this furniture. We bought this furniture two years ago for our twins, who are now 20 mos old. The cribs were reasonably easy to assemble and have held up well. I like that they're convertible, but you do have to pay additional to get toddler bed rails and the conversion kit for a full-size bed. Our kids made bite marks on the top, which obviously isn't the mfr's fault but something to think about when buying pine baby furniture.

The problems I wanted to highlight were with the dresser & armoire. We exchanged the first dresser we received b/c a door panel had a large crack in it upon delivery. The new one looked fine but has also developed a crack, and the top drawer sticks when closing it. The armoire now has a large crack in one of the door panels too.

This furniture has been used gently and not for long - the twins were in our room (with their clothing in our dresser) until they were 9 mos old. They don't play in their room, so the furniture hasn't been abused by them either.

We bought this so long ago that I've forgotten how much it cost, but we did buy it at Babies R Us. Hope you all have better luck with it than we did!

Very Pleased with Sturdy and strong crib, May 28, 2007

Pros: Style, color, sturdiness
Cons: Heavy to move; some bolts difficult to attach

My husband and I just assembled the Baby Italia/Issi Cerianna Lifestyle crib yesterday. It is a beautiful convertible crib and it is very solid and sturdy. The color is a little more reddish than you see on the Baby Italia website and under flourescent lights at BRU. The crib is heavier than we remember when we checked it out at Babies R Us but we find it very solid. It took us about 60-90 minutes to assemble (only because at 8 months I move slowly and DH is on crutches ). Without these encumberences you can probably assemble in under one hour. There are some bolts to attach at the very end that were difficult to screw in because the Allen Wrench (provided) is too long to go all the way around without hitting the base. No other tools were needed except a screwdriver. I would definitely recommend this crib to others!
