Firmest Mattress at our BRU, January 20, 2007

Pros: Sheets fit, baby sleeps very well
Cons: Maybe it does sag

We bought the Baby Beautyrest for about $90 or so at BRU. We tested all the mattresses - pushed them with both hands - and this one was the firmest they had. (It's the one with the 50-year emblem.)

I hadn't noticed any sagging until reading the two other reviews. I don't know that I'd call it sagging - but you can tell that the sides all around are a little higher than the general middle area. I think it was like that when it was new though. But maybe the coils have become a little more compressed, or maybe the sheets themselves have worn and stretched so they lie more flush. Plus baby's getting bigger and heavier and making more of an "impression" as she naps.

All I can say is our DD started sleeping through the night on this mattress at six weeks and has slept great on it ever since (11 hours a night).

Pros: Fits well in the crib
Cons: Lasted only 4 months

We paid $90 for a Simmons Super Maxipedic, after 4 months my baby started waking up in the middle of the night after feeding him and placing him completely asleep in the crib, he wakes up after 10 minutes, and this story goes on for two hours until he is so tired that he just gives up. We just realized the reason is because the mattress is sagging in the middle, even with my baby out of the crib you can clearly see the sag in the middle. I had to let my baby sleep in our bed until we bought another mattress. Don't buy this product or any other Simmons mattress, they charge you a premium but their products are cheap and worthless.

Pros: Fits well, not as expensive
Cons: Sags in the middle after 5 months of use

As I searched for a crib mattress at BRU, I realized that they did not have the foam mattress recommended in BB. So, I purchased the $69 Simmons coil mattress. It fits great in our crib, DS seems comfortable on it, etc. However after only 5 months of use, it seems like it is sagging in the middle. The little diamond-shaped coils are pressing indentions into the sheet. You can see their outline distinctly upon lifting DS out of the crib. This may be normal mattress wear; I don't know. I do know that I will probably be purchasing a new mattress for DC #2 (whenever that is.)

Pros: Fits the crib well
Cons: Sagging in the middle

We purchased the Simmons Super Maxipedic because it was recommended by our crib manufacturer and also got a good review from BB. Our son has only been sleeping in his crib on the mattress since early April (which is not even 2 months- it's only the end of May!) and we have noticed for a few weeks now that the mattress is sagging in the middle. It's sagging so much that our son can roll from his back to his stomach on the floor but not in the crib because the surface is not flat and even for him. I flipped it after one month thinking that maybe that would make a difference but no such luck! I definitely would not recommend this mattress and we are thinking about biting the bullet and buying a different one.
