Pros:
Waterproof, soft, supple cover
Cons:

We bought the Starlight Support "Supreme" version with memory foam, and we LOVE this mattress. We love it so much, we are considering shelling out the big bucks to buy the twin-sized version now that our son is ready for a big-boy bed. We know Baby Bargains recommends some plenty fine crib mattresses that cost a lot less, but go to the store, press your hands down on these mattresses, and you'll know why this one is far superior. The cover is made of this waterproof but soft and supple leather-like material that stretches and gives under your weight. There is no crunchy plastic feel or noise, and NO PVC or vinyl. You won't need to use any other mattress pad with this--just change the sheets and wipe clean. It's also very light-weight, and easy to pull in and out of the crib for sheet changes. I love the squared (not curved) corners, and the fact that there are no raised seams. It just seems like the much more allergen-free and sanitary choice, which is why we're thinking of getting a twin for our toddler. I don't know how many bed-wetting episodes it takes for a young child to ruin a regular mattress, but the Moonlight Slumber seems practically indestructible. I'll also feel great about passing on the current crib mattress to the next baby. It's been almost two years, but it looks and feels brand new.
BTW, we've NEVER had a problem with smell or a "powder" as one reviewer noted.

Cons:

We are very happy with our Moonlight Slumber Mattress.
I have personally never seen a mattress for babies of this quality. All other mattresses look pretty much the same except this one. It is nice to know a company is offering a better quality choice to babies. It is very firm without being hard as a rock, the cover is so much nicer than the vinylones I've seen. We LOVE it!!!!
We are glad we found Moonlight Slumber

Pros:
Safety and Sanitary
Cons:
a little pricey

Great mattress! We just received ours and very happy with our decision. It has so many more features and we were told it was created by a guy who made mattress for hospitals. We paid $219 which is similar to Colgate's premium mattress. I would definitely recommend it.

I love this mattress, I had a the top of the line colgate mattress with my first child and she trashed it so I got this one as a gift from a good friend before my second was born, I could not be more happy!

Pros:
it does seem comfortable and sanitary
Cons:
smell and strange dust
|
|
i really want to love this mattress (have the all foam - no spring - no fancy memory foam version), but i don't. The smell when i first got it was really bad (kind of like a strong band-aid smell). It's faded a good bit over a year, but if i put my face up to it i can still smell it.The other odd thing is there is a strange gritty dust type substance on the mattress that i notice when i change the sheets. no idea what it is, but i don't like it.i actually only used it in a crib for one month (4-5). we had gone from an arms reach to a crib to in-bed cosleeping. started using the mattress again around 1 year (in a fully childproofed room w/the mattress on the floor). Curiously our son decided to not sleep on it and spends the night on a giant stuffed animal next to the bed instead. I can't help but think maybe this because he finds the mattress smell adversive. (or it could just be that he doesn't like sleeping on a flat surface)i sometimes lie on it when i'm reading him books, and i will admit it is very comfortable -- i just wouldn't want to be breathing the air right next to it. And i'll give some benefit of the doubt that maybe the weird dust is related to the fact that it's not designed to support the weight of the adult and could be some sort of breakdown.i've never used a conventional mattress so i don't know how those smell in comparison. originally it was the moonlight slumber vs. a natural type one, but i ruled out the natural ones cause cotton batting seems like a bad idea. i've since found one that doesn't have that and will probably replace my moonlight slumber (budget permitting) if we have another child.
