Pros:

I have been using this seat for a few weeks now and I love it! Compared to all the other infant seats you see out there, you can see that this one is much more substantial. There is ample cushioning - especially around the head. I have already gotten many comments about how they never had head supports like that even just a few years ago. The harness itself is also impressive and keeps my baby securely fastened.I am also impressed with how securely the base fits in the car. My husband was able to install it so that it won't budge an inch. I took it to a car dealer to show us how to install it and the guy was impressed by the clips that help catch the seatbelt.This seat is bigger than most and definately heavier, but when it comes to safety, I am completely fine with carrying an extra pound or so.This car seat is more expensive than most, but it is definately worth the money. I would much rather get a seat that I am certain will stand up than a less safe seat that has a designer cover for the same price.

I could not find product in any store. Found on internet Albee Baby (great customer service) and paid around 180 for it (included one base). I also bought another base from them too. Bought 2 months before baby was due. Baby came 4 weeks early. Had to use a hospital bed carrier for 1 week. Then used the car seat. Had it installed previously by the police department. We had trouble locking the seat into the base. Contacted Britax and they told me that I should contact retail company I purchased it from. Britax said otherwise I need to mail it to them and it may take a couple of months for them to fix and mail back to me. Fix?! Couple of months?! Don't have that time nor do I want them to fix it. I want it replaced. It is still new. Britax didn't even want my info for their records. Cotacted Albee and they were wonderful. They paid for me to ship back defective product and they paid to have new one shipped to me, seat and new base too. As weeks have went by we have noticed that it is harder and harder to unlock the seat from base and locking to base. Not good wiggling it around when baby in inside seat. Also when driving down the road after I am sure that I have locked it in good I hear a "click" sound. This is unnerving! I have decided now that I will have to eat the cost of the seat and extra base and get something safer. I have talked to other women that have had the same problem. Hopefully more will write in. I have reported this also to the CPSC.

This is a great car seat and even though it is heavy, I have no regrets of purchasing this seat. I have felt confident when my baby is in it and it puts me more at ease knowing he is as well protected in the event of an accident as he can be. It does weigh a lot, but look at the bright side, your arms will get a great workout!

My husband and I are expecting our first child in a few weeks and some friends of ours lent us their Britax Companion infant seat to use. When we went to install it, it became evident that they hadn't stored it very well for the last year. The piece on the base that locks the seat belt into place was broken. I called Britax customer service to see if I could just get a replacement piece or if I had to purchase a whole new base. The lady at Britax was extremely nice and explained to me that they no longer made the base that would fit our seat. She then explained that they were going to send us a whole new one (seat and base) free of charge. I was shocked and obviously very pleased. I'm amazed that I didn't even have to pay for shipping. She never even asked how the piece got broken. I will never buy another brand of car seat just because of their amazing customer service.

We love our Companion, Britax in general is a fabulous company. This was the only seat (to my knowledge) on the market w/ an inflatable head support for newborns. Everywhere we went we saw newborns with a little balled up receiving blanket, in place of this to add support for their babies. The seat was easy to install, comes in great colors and is about the same size and weight of other seats. Definitely my #1 choice of infant seats.
