We purchased this seat after using the Radian from Sunshine Kids (we travel a lot and use that for airplanes). However, no seat offered the side impact protection I was looking for, not even Britax. I stumbled onto Recaro after knowing they have been in the seat business for years (airplanes, cars, race cars, etc). This seat is like strapping in a solid lazy boy into your car. The seat is well designed, easy to use, and has unsurpassed side impact protection for the head, shoulders and hips. When our daughter falls asleep in it, her head is held upright and not cocked to the side bouncing around like a pingpong ball. True, you can only use 5point to 40pounds. I think that has something to do with chest clips not supporting weight beyond that in an accident and using the installed vehicle belts is best at that point (it can be used as a booster seat after 40 pounds). At 21 months and 23 pounds, my daughter will not be 40 pounds for some time. I'll worry about that then, but for now, today, she is in the safest seat I could find! She is always so comfy in the seat (The material is nice and plush and easy to wipe clean too). Also, this seat puts kids rear end's down low at the 90degree angle of the seat and back... the safest way for them to travel (unlike the Britax which basically is like a mit 10 inches off the seat ready to launch them into infinity if there were to be an accident).

Pros:
Did I mention sturdy? FABULOUS head support
Cons:
High Price, lack of 5-pt. harness at higher weights

We purchased this seat around our son's first birthday. We were upgrading from the Evenflo Titan. This seat keeps our son's head in place beautifully while he sleeps. I also feel like these 'wings' offer very good protection for his head and neck. This is a solid, heavy seat. I was impressed by the weight and how firm the seat sits on our SUV seat when anchored. We have an '05 Toyota Sequoia, and have the seat anchored in the middle of the (second row) backseat. The seat is very easy to install. The price is high, but once I strapped our son in this seat for the first time, this was no longer of any concern. Also, this seat can be configured into a booster seat for your child to use until they reach a weight of 80 lbs. I also wish we could use the 5-pt. harness longer, but thought I read that Recaro will be adding this as a feature in the future. I hope so. We'll definitely purchase this seat for our daughter when she's old/big enough to use it.
