Pros:
I love the visual display (lights) on this Monitor
Cons:
I wish it had better reception
|
|
The reviews I read on this monitor were very good. I have never tried any other monitors so I don't know how it compares.
I love the red lights. When you don't want to hear the monitor, you turn the volume down, but still have the lights to alert you when your baby makes noises.
I have used this in the yard while gardening during naptime, and the reception has been good across the yard.
I wish it had better reception. We pick up news radio on ours, so we have to keep it turned low at night. Sometimes I turn it down to drown out the radio, and end up drowning out the sound of our daughter!

We got this monitor as a gift. At first we were not planning on using a monitor since our home is not that large. Then we realized we would zone DS out if we had all the doors closed! After a few days, we found that this simple, basic monitor suited our purposes perfectly. The 2 receivers can work with an AC adapter or batteries, so you can have them in stationary spots plugged into the wall, or use batteries to carry it around with you clipped to your pants, etc. The lights only option is nice, if you do not want to hear the crying but want to monitor the noise. Like most monitors, it is not perfect. If the monitor base is turned off but your receivers are on, you can pick up on near by signals. We have accidentally listened in on our neighbor's baby a few times. There are only 2 channel options (A and B), but we rarely have to switch around due to interference. The monitor has a low night light. It's a decent feature, but one we do not use. You can have it on or off.I have not used any other monitors, but this suits our purposes fine. We have a townhouse that is 1500 sqft, so we haven't tested very long distances. At most we have the receiver downstairs and it is maybe 50 ft away from the monitor base. This is a good economical option if you really want a monitor but do not want to spend a lot of money.Admittedly, I've sometimes wondered "what's going on in there", so a video monitor would be fun, but completely not necessary. I suppose a baby would appreciate some privacy and no one "spying" on them.
