Everything I wanted in a stroller, July 9, 2007

Pros: lightweight, big basket, takes carseats, easy fold
Cons: difficult to access basket when used with carseat

I wanted a stroller that was easy to use and boy did I get it. I spent a lot of time studying and then trying things out in the store (I seriously considered a Zooper but they're only available online in my area). I bought the Aria OH from BRU for $199 and then was dismayed to find out that the new edition of Baby Bargains had made a drastic turnaround and was no longer recommending it. I was happy with the stroller and decided to give it a shot. So three blissful months later, I decided it was time to write in and show some love for the Aria.

I want to specify that I am referring to an Aria OH purchased in April 2007. It is often difficult to understand which model people are referring to when they comment here. I have a Dreamer Design Rebound GST that I run with every morning, and this stroller lives in the trunk of the car for running errands. We have small cars (Honda Civics), but I prefer this stroller to an umbrella stroller because it is easy to push with one hand, and it still doesn't take up much space. The fold is incredibly easy, the stroller is amazingly light, and it works with both a Snug Ride and a Safe Seat (differently sized car seats). When the baby was less heavy, I could hold the car seat with one hand while I opened or closed the stroller. I haven't put the canopy on yet because I only use it with a car seat. There is a strap to attach a car seat not made by Peg Perego, but I haven't felt the need to use it. The Safe Seat fits in both a flat and slightly upright way, which is also nice.

I don't think Peg Perego recommends the Aria for heavy duty. Generally, I only use it indoors, except for parking lots and one street festival.

I feel about this stroller the way some people feel about sports cars. It has been a great investment, one of the most useful baby items we have.

Not worth the money, June 24, 2006

Pros: lightweight
Cons: hard to steer, cup holder too small, canopy is a joke

This stroller was def. not worth the $200 I padi for it.

It's best feature is it is very lightweight and easy to fold and unfold.

The steering is terrible. The wheels turn on their own the opposite way you want them to go. The steering was just fine in the store without a 15 lb baby in it! It does steer much better in stores than on pavement, etc.

The canopy shouldn't even be called a canopy, it does NOTHING.

The cupholder is so small, we installed a larger one.

The basket size is okay, but it could be bigger.

Haven't used the snack tray yet so don't know about that.

If you are looking for a stroller to use exclusively for mall shopping or the like, this would be great. If you would also like to take a walk around the neighborhood with your child in it, don't get it. I am in the process of buying a new stroller and am goign to use this one exclusively for shopping.

Pros: Lightweight - good looks
Cons: Not sturdy, hard to open sometimes

I bought this stroller to use with my Peg car seat when I visit my family in Puerto Rico. I am mostly in and out of cars here and going to malls, and it works well for that purpose. The stroller is not very sturdy because it is lightweight. The snack holder in the frontbar falls out all of the time, which is annoying. The stroller also jams sometimes when opening it. If you use with the peg car seat, the fabric of the stroller obstructs the locking bars so you need to fiddle with the car seat a bit before it locks into the stroller. I like it for my trips here, but I am glad I have a sturdy Valco at home.

Pros: Reputation
Cons: quality

I purchased this stroller based on the recommendation and reviews from Consumer Report and Baby Bargains...My baby is 3 months old..I did not even use it until he reached 1 month of age and I do not use the stroller often. That being said..The logo on both side panels has fallen off, a wire supporting the "canopy" is protruding and poses a dangerous risk to poking my son in the eye, the cup holder in the front panel falls out EVERY time I place the stroller in the trunk and EVERY time I remove it, and the side cup holder is essentially useless..how can I place a drink in there when it swings about and can not support most average size drinks. I must keep this stroller until he outgrows his Primo Viaggio car seat..but once that happens, I will have to invest in a new stroller. I am soo disgusted that I invested this cash into such a poor quality stroller based upon such excellent reviews. I would have been better off spending the big bucks on a Bugaboo and have had a good quality stroller for the long run.

Think twice before buying this one, June 10, 2005

Pros: Lightweight, child's tray
Cons: Poor steering, not good for young babies

The 2003 Aria was our first "real" stroller after using a Snap N Go for the first 5 months. When our son outgrew the infant seat we tried to transfer him to the Aria, and it didn't go well.

My grievances... 1) The recline wasn't low enough for a young baby, even with my son's sitting skills he'd slump over a lot. 2) Peg's "floating" harness was impractical for babies, maybe good for toddlers though. 3) The drawstring recline mechanism is easy to lower, but difficult to raise with a baby inside. I'd have to stop the stroller, set the brakes, and use both hands just to raise the seat. 4) Canopy left much to be desired. 5) Steered well on smooth surfaces, but never a true one-handed push. Wouldn't recommend for outdoor use due to plastic wheels and lack of suspension.

Despite my prior experience, we gave the 2005 Aria another test-drive recently when shopping for a lightweight for our (now) toddler. Hated it! Now that he weighs 28 lbs, the steering is even worse and harder to maneuver, even on the smooth floors at the store. He wasn't comfortable either and asked for "out" right away. We decided to buy a different lightweight with MUCH better steering.

I'd pass on this Peg. They should do some serious re-designs to this model and focus on that crummy steering!
