Best stroller for traveling, March 11, 2006

Pros: Handle height, easy steering, 8.5 pounds, compact folding
Cons: no cup holder, skimpy basket, no recline

I found this stroller at a local TJ Maxx store for $60.00. My daughter was 12 months old when I purchased it. We have a number of strollers including peg perego, Phil and Ted's, and Combi. The volo has been my favorite for use with a toddler because it is so light and easy to steer.

Pros: This stoller weighs only 8.5 pounds and has a strap for carrying (which comes in handy at the airport). The handles are tall so neither myself nor my 6'1" husband kick the back of the stroller like we do with the Combi and Peg Perego.

The steering is fabulous with or without a child in the stroller and this stroller is very compact when folded. It will fit into any trunk or small space for storage.

My daughter, now two, enjoys climbing in and out by herself and has never complained about having to ride in this stroller.

Cons: This stroller is very basic. No sun shade, cup holders or padding. A small to medium sized diaper bag will fit in the storage basket. The straps are not very height adjustable. You can purchase a Mac Claren stroller bag to attach to the back but I have found that this accessory is only good for bottles or bottled water. If you put your purse in the accessory bag the stroller is likely to tip over when empty. The lack of a cup holder has not been too bad for me. The steering is so easy I can use one hand for my Latte and one to steer the stoller.

I really love this umbrella stroller, September 28, 2007

Pros: It is lightweight and sturdy
Cons: Sun visor gets stained when folded (wheels rub on it)

We had a cheap umbrella stroller and it did not have a sun shade and it did not manuever well. We looked for other options and found Maclaren's Volo stroller. What a beautiful thing.

Sure it is expensive at $100, but it is worth it. I think the value is there.

The only complaint I have is that the sun visor gets dirty from the wheels rubbing against it when it is folled. I have emailed Maclaren twive in the past 2 months and have never heard from them. This worries me because I wonder if they would respond to my email if I had an important question or issue. This is something to consider when purchasing from this company.

Pros: light, simple fold, high weight limit, great maneuverability
Cons: Doesn't recline. Not a factor for me, but it is for others.

I love, love, love this stroller!! I can't say it enough! I am thrilled. When I was pregnant I insisted on getting a travel system despite seasoned mommies telling me otherwise. Naturally DS was big and outgrew his infant carrier by 3 months. So, the whole "travel system" thing went out the window real early. I wound up using the stroller (for trips to the store, zoo etc.), but hated how bulky it was and how terrible it maneuvered. After over a year and a half, I finally decided to go the "umbrella stroller" way (I use a jogging stroller for walks around the neighborhood). It's like I've seen the light!! I actually get excited to get the thing out and put DS in it. Isn't that nuts? It's so easy that it amuses me so! I did put him in a number of these types of strollers at BRU and this one was definitely the right size for him. At 18 months he was 35" and 31lb. He's almost 21 months now, so he's probably heavier and he looks taller by the day. Many of the others seemed too short in the seat. This one is awesome. I paid $100 for it. I probably could have gotten it cheaper online, but once I test drove it with DS in it, I had to have it that day. The handles are high enough for me. I'm 5'8" and noticed other strollers were too low. The Volo comes already put together in the box except for the canopy which simply slides and snaps into place! (The canopy provides much more coverage than others that I looked at.) So, as you can see, I am thrilled with my purchase. I used this site to help me decide. As always, the mommies here know their stuff! I knew that this stroller didn't have things like a super large basket, cup holders, recline etc. Sure those would be nice, but for me, the ease with which I can fold and unfold the stroller and the weight (9 lb)were key. I almost forgot to mention how amazingly it maneuvers! It turns on a dime and is a dream. One last thing is that I can hang my diaper bag on it with no problem. I am so glad to have gotten this stroller!

Pros: Compact, sturdy and great quality
Cons: The cost

If you are willing to spend a little extra, a volo is the way to go. I only wish the wheels were capable of handling uneven surfaces.

Pros: Light, Compact, Carry Strap, Easy to fold
Cons: canopy gets stained when folded (wheels rub on it)

Great umbrella stroller. My best friend almost had her child flip in one of those cheapy umbrella stroller. It is worth spending $100 for this. It can hold up to 55lbs and it is very sturdy. Yet it is easy to maneuver. The handles are at confortable height for an adult. This is a great travel stroller. After looking at various places online, we ended just picking ours up at a Target store for $99.99.
